Enlarged swollen pubic area

Pituitary tumor dx in 1983 with surgery.
Endometrian cancer dx in 2007 with total radical hysterectomy (fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, cervix and lymph nodes; so incision was vertical abdominal.
Unfortunately when staples were removed, incision ripped open and had to do wound care for 5 mos.
Following year ('08) had laproscopic double hernia surgery in abdomen with mesh placement.
Following year ('09) another hernia in area was found. Surgery dept. didn't schedule me and I didn't pursue it again until 2010. Surgeon felt that surgery wasn't necessary and I was thrilled.
Jan 2011, went into ER with abdominal pain, CAT scan showed hernia and mesh torn away. So they reopened and repaired with larger mesh.
Naturally numbness and swelling presented themselves and I have waited. Well the Pubic area continues to get bigger, so much so that I thought that I had another hernia. They did a CAT scan and did not find a hernia.
Thought is that it is inflammation. Doesn't hurt, but sticks out further then stomach, and I'm obese, so this is big!!!
I also have Hypothyroidism and diabetes.
Bless anyone who is read this long post. Hoping to find someone that has had similar.

Re: Enlarged swollen pubic area

Hi Anita, I'm sorry to hear about everything you've had to deal with. All the surgeries suck, I know. Do you think the swelling could be related to lymphedema? I have swelling that's pretty localized to the same area, and I've had a lymphedema diagnosis.* It might be a good idea to talk to a knowledgable doctor and/or physical therapist about lymphedema, even if it's just to rule it out. Mystery swelling is incredibly unsettling; I hope you find some answers soon.

Yours, Diane

*Of course, I know this might predispose me to thinking *everyone's* swelling is lymphedema.
