I'm nursing a broken toe as well but with regards to the surgery, I feel pretty much back to normal. Still not sleeping well but I think that's a perimenopausal thing. Two steps forward and another back!

Stone passed, pain gone - broken toe!

Perimenopause can be a trial, depending on which symptoms you get with it.
Mine are hot flushes and night sweats, which mess up sleeping, and I have had them for many years.
Compared to other symptoms like depression and mood swings, they aren't as bad, but they can last a long time.

good luck with it!

I'm having trouble sleeping too. My doctor told me to take Ambien for two weeks, once I got into a good sleep pattern I should be Ok. Can you become addicted after only two weeks? When I was taking it, I slept great. The first night without, I had nightmares. The second night, I only slept about two hours. She told me to start again, but take one every other night. I wish I would have left it alone. My sleep is worse now than it was before.

Hi there, sisters,
I know what you mean about the sleepless nights and night sweats.

I have been going through the perimenopause for a good many years now, luckily with hot flashes and nights sweats as my main symptoms, not the depression and mood swings part.

The surgical menopause on top has been quite tough, but I cannot have HRT due to my age. At 57, I just have to tough it out.
At work we have had no heating since February! For others that has been hard, For me it was a favour in a way. When it was so cold, I rarely had hot flashes in the day, and if I did, it just stopped me from freezing to death.
Once I got back to my heated house, all evening was only long swelter.
Once in bed I used to wake hourly, and have to throw the covers off. The exhaustion was tremendous.

At 7 months, the sweats had reduced to only 2 per night, but have got more frequent again.
I do not take any sleeping pills but I do often get very vivid dreams, which I can oftem remember in great detail.

I have got addicted to helping on the Hysters site, so I am often online trying to catch up until 1.00 am or later!
This does make me very tired, but I hope it will make me sleep better.
It doesn't really, it just makes my eyes very sore from too much computer use!

I cannot give you any idea when your own body will settle down and be completely "normal".
All I can do is let you know that what you are going through is "normal".
We will just have to suffer through this time together, and give each other cyber hugs from time to time.

Re: Recovery Progress Reports for Hysterectomy dates Mar 12-Mar 18,2012

Hello to all my wonderful Hyster Sisters!

It's been a while since I was on the site...first I want to say KaylaV I am praying for you and know that you are enjoying every moment of each day. Isn't that how we should all be living? No one knows how much time we have on this beautiful earth and I think KaylaV you are such a strong woman who is a great example to all of us here!

And thanks to Mrs Library Lady, Sandgroper Rose, and every other gal who checks in from time to time and lets us know how you are doing.

My breast check in NYC June 7th was fine...had two fluid filled cysts next to each other (30ccs!) that looked nearly like an implant on sonogram. I teased my doc that he "deflated" my girl when he aspirated the cysts! These cysts will continue as long as I'm on an estrogen patch (climara .025) but this will actually help decrease my chances for breast cancer. I go back for an MRI of my girls at the end of October. NYC is great that time of year!

And yes, I'm among many of us who just CANNOT SLEEP at night...I toss and turn...it's 1am, 2:30am...etc. Some nights I do manage pretty good sleep...but most of the time it sucks! My gyn said just to tough it out...usually within a year our bodies will readjust.

Sex has been, um, interesting. I think the surgery made my parts a little shorter/tighter so we are progressing inch by inch! My DH is certainly a patient man.

I hope everyone has a great summer (or winter depending on where you live) and I'll continue to check in from time to time. Exercising on cardio machines, power walking, and weight lifting...but knee is still somewhat cranky! But then, I'm in my 50s and parts do start to show wear and tear after all these years of workouts!

Hugs and Cheers!

Good to hear from you Young53.
Glad you are feeling pretty good now.

I also had a mammogram earlier this year, and all was normal, apart from the flattened feeling!

At 57, I was not given any estrogen or HRT, and was also told I had to tough it out through the sleepless nights and hot sweats.
I need to break the habit of staying up till 1.30 am or later posting on this site to my sisters, and get in a few early nights. My eyes are feeling tired all the time.

I have a ski style walker in the middle of the room, trying to tempt Hubby and me with exercising, but we keep finding excuses! My excuses for not walking outside are the horrendous storms, and the aching toe joint.
I used to have an hour of "me" time before he got home from work to chill, or dance, and fitness had started to improve, but he has changed his hours and beats me home now!!

The Queen's Jubilee Regatta on the River Thames has been a particularly memorable day for DH and me.
After years of abstinence, we tried out the new equipment, and it was OK.

Keep well everyone

Hugs to you Young53! Good luck with the sex business. I was so excited that I could accommodate all of my (ex) husband after 15 years of pain and frustration. Yay for us!!!!

I had a moment of worry last night.

Glanced back at the toilet after taking a pee and saw my pee was red!
I had done a lot that evening, but not had any sort of discharge post-op.

Then I remembered eating beetroot for tea!
It can colour your "output"
I don't know what it is called in your part of the world

I'm right there with you all in the menopause issues, and I still have ovaries. I've also had four urinary tract infections which have turned into yeast infections despite diflucan. My husband has pretty much had it with me sleeping and being cranky.....but I am just trying to enjoy my children and think of the positives,,,,last check up, still cancer free:-)

There are so many positives, and being cancer-free must be right there near the top!

Even 1 month on from this point you will be amazed how much further you will have travelled.

Tell your hubby it will all be worth it in the end.
