4 weeks post op....odd discharge and EVERYTHING is heightened
Hi ladies-I have a couple of questions. I am 4 weeks post davinci assisted total hysto (cervix and uterus). I noticed that I had some very faint slightly colored discharge yesterday and the day before. I didn't think much of it until today when it looked more like what I would have seen at the end of a normal period....it is slightly brown. I am worried because since about 2 weeks post op I have be very easily aroused....to the point that it is constant. Hubby and I have not had intercourse but have been told that outercourse is fine. I am wondering if I have done this too much....I am too embarrassed to talk to my Dr about this. I find myself wanting not only my DH but taking care of things on my own as well....a couple of times daily. Last night we participated in anal intercourse and now I have this weird discharge. I am starting to worry but I was under the impression that anal was ok because there is nothing in there to heal from the hysto. Can anyone set my mind at ease and save me a VERY embarrasing phone call to my dr?

I am sorry but you are going to have to call your doctor. Anal intercourse is usually not recommended as a substitute for vaginal intercourse during recovery. Your doctor has heard it all before so you won't be the first person to ask embarrassing questions and you won't be the last. Please call your doctor now so that if something is wrong, you can fix it right away rather than later when it could be a lot worse.

I agree that you should call your doctor. I, too, read that anal sex isn't recommended because you need full pelvic rest. As for your discharge, you are at a point where stitches are disolving, and a slight discharge is normal. The fact that it isn't bright red is a good sign because that means it's not fresh blood. I think you'll be just fine, but the only way to be 100% certain is to check with your doctor. Try not to worry too much in the meantime!

A little discharge is normal for up to 6-8 weeks. Unless the discharge is heavy, I wouldn't worry about it. But, of course, it's totally up to you as I don't know how heavy or slight your discharge is and it is your peace of mind. To be on the safe side, I'd suggest stopping the anal stuff and slow down on the other until you get clearance from you doctor.
