Nausea

I'm three days out and started getting very nauseous. (No vomiting) The dr is getting me anti-nausea meds, wondered if anyone had a similar issue?

Re: Nausea

Mine was mostly the first night, but it IS scary and awful (when you are worried about protecting your abdomen/insides)! They gave me phenergen which stopped the nausea, but it made me very sleepy. Sending you strength and wishing you well....... Are you taking a type of pain med that you have had before? After a former surgery a few years ago, I was given a pain medication that was new for me and contained codeine...... it turned out I was allergic to the codeine and it was causing my nausea. Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Nausea

Thanks everyone.....it's great to hear from you all having similar experiences!! I'm taking high dose ibuprofen for pain and it's doing just fine, which is good because pain killers and I don't get along . Started taking promethaseen ( sorry about spelling, don't have the bottle in front of me). Made me sleepy but definitely helped. Hope it continues so I can eat! And hope everyone's recovery is helped as much as mine by these posts!!

Re: Nausea

I had the worst nausea and vomiting the first 24 hours after my surgery. The pain while throwing up was the worst I have ever felt. They finally figured out it was from the pain medicine I was on. They switched me to a different medication and I eat a graham cracker before each does of medicine. Hope it gets better. I know it was no fun.

Re: Nausea

I'm purposely not taking any strong pain meds because they make me sick and can not imagine your pain from vomiting! Hope that is all over for you

Re: Nausea

Mine was the 18th. I had nausea the day of and through out the night. We think it was from the pain medicine and from the surgery. After the first 14 hours i finally got better and was able to eat light meals. Even the meds they gave me didnt work. They got me up that morning and it helped subside the nausea. Yes it still hurt walking but slow and go. Dont over do it. Get the Hystersister book and info. it has helped me alot along with the website on info for my recovery. Take care of yourself. Love these post.
