Smile - New to this site New to this site

Hello! I'm 48 years old and had been suffering with heavy bleeding, clotting, severe cramps, pelvic pressure, spotting/pain with deep intercourse and ovarian cysts for too many years. Also fibroids that came and went. Unfortunately my symptoms were never taken seriously and usually given the old treatment of "take motrin couple days before your period". Finally after seeing only male military doctors I was fortunate enough to be able to find a female civilian gyne that has been wonderful and a blessing! She gave me options, starting with thermal uterine ablation which unfortunately failed due to probable adenomyosis. After a year I decided on TLH and had my surgery yesterday. It was overall a great experience with the kindest and most caring professionals that I have ever encountered! My surgeon was able to keep one ovary and I am so thankful for that! I remember nothing of the actual surgery and was very comfortable when I came out! Was released about 2 hrs after my procedure. Had a good night and able to be up and about but relaxing now reading and watching tv. My wonderful husband of 27 years is taking good care of me!

Re: New to this site

I'm glad you are on the recovery side of surgery and hope you will enjoy spending time here as you heal.

There's good information in the Post-Op Page to refer to throughout recovery, plus you can start new threads on the Post-Op message board to ask questions and to ask for support.

Best wishes for your recovery!
