Horrible menopausal symptoms just started 3 months post op!

I had my hysterectomy (ovaries removed, also) March 1st and did great for the first 2-3 months post op. Then, the bottom fell out! If there is a symptom, I have it. But, the worse symptom is the depression and anxiety! Is anyone else experiencing the same thing.... menopausal symptoms starting this long after their surgery? I had been taking Enjuvia since the surgery until last week when my doctor tested my hormone levels (FSH 42, Estro -19). He says my body isn't absorbing this drug so we have moved to Divigel. It has been five days and I don't see any relief in sight. Any recommendations? So ready to be myself again.

It'll probably take about 6 weeks to know if the Divigel dose is correct... takes a while for the body to adjust. It takes different people different amounts of time for their stored estrogen to run out and it sounds like yours just did. Level of 19 is very low. I bet you might need vaginal estrogen too (vagifem/estrace cream/premarin cream)... something to ask your dr about.

Thank you so much for the reply. That is what I was wondering. My ob/gyn acted like the hormones would be gone fairly immediate. My level was actually a Minus (-19). So, very low. My gp upped my dose of Wellbutrin to give me some relief until the hormones start to help. I'm praying it works.... Wellbutrin and the Divigel. I also stopped smoking 12 weeks post op. I know I'll be healthier for it in the long run. Just probably not the best timing for my mental health.

I agree with Calypso.

Enjuvia didn't work for me either. I tried the estrogel, but couldn't seem to keep a steady estrogen dose. Hope this works for you.

Re: Horrible menopausal symptoms just started 3 months post op!

My symptoms didn't start untill 6 weeks after surgery and the doc who did my surgery gave me .5 estradiol which I took and had some relief. I now go to a gyn who specializes in HRT and he has me on progesterone cream as well as premetrium which I do both at night. I was on vivelle dot patch but seems my body wouldn't absorb all of the meds in the patch so I asked him for the estradiol in pill form. He put me on the .5 again which isn't enough so I called and asked him if I could take 2 instead of 1 and he said yes. I think 1mg is too much so I have broken some in half and am going to try .75 instead.
