TAH: Very large fibroid

Could someone please tell me the length of the surgery for a complete hysterectomy with a cantaloupe size fibroid and constant pain. I would just like to know how long I will be in surgery.

length of surgery can vary - but i am having a TAH with cystocele & rectocele repair - was told the surgery will be approx 2.5 hours - hope this helps!

I had a LAVH for large fibroids. I had 1 that was cantaloupe size and it took over 4 hours, but my dr stuck with the laparoscope which is why it took so long. Several times they were going to switch to a TAH but didn't, so it would have been much shorter. I probably didn't answer your question too well, but please know that I am praying for you and sending good, healing thoughts your way!

My Dr said will be about an hour.

I had a TAH. I had a fibroids and had adhesions. They removed my right ovary, too. My surgery took about 2.5.

I had lots of fibroids and 4 or 5 of them were large. The largest was 5 inches across. My surgury was almost 5 hours. It was done laparoscopic with small (less then half inch) incesions but he did make a low 2 inch abdominal cut. He said if he did not make a low cut it would of taken about 1.5 hours more. Just to add, my Dr. said mine was one of his toughest!
