Sacrocolpopexy vs Uterosacral ligament suspension

Has anyone had either of these two surgeries? I'm not sure which is better. The ligament suspension doesn't use mesh, but the sacrocolpopexy is a stronger repair. I am concerned because I'm only 33 and I am hoping to avoid multiple surgeries. Please let me know any experiences you have with either of these procedures.

Do you know what type of mesh your surgeon would use?

Re: Sacrocolpopexy vs Uterosacral ligament suspension

From what I have read from other ladies who have used mesh, they recommend using only porcine mesh. There are some horror stories out there on concerning mesh and others that are success stories. For myself, personally, I would not do mesh. My doctor used sutures and so far I am doing well. Do thorough research and consider getting a second opinion before making a decision.

Re: Sacrocolpopexy vs Uterosacral ligament suspension

I had a sacrocolpopexy without mesh. Granted I'm only a few months out, but it seems to be holding well. I think the surgeon's skill level is key. I'd only have a urogynecologist ever do these types of surgeries. And I don't think I'd choose mesh.

Re: Sacrocolpopexy vs Uterosacral ligament suspension

I recently had the daVinci robotic hysterectomy due to bladder prolapse. Uterus was removed. Nothing else. Mesh was attached to the cervix and anchored to the sacrum. All went well. Mesh was inserted through my navel. Not transvaginal. No problems with infection and no problems with the surgery. The only problem I have right now is pain on the right side of my abdomin. Surgery was four weeks ago and pain began 2 weeks ago. Having a CT scan.
