33 hysterectomy scheduled july 9,2012 (for endo)

Hello all I am a 33 year old mother to four children including twins who is scheduled to have a hysterectomy July 9th 2012 .... I have been diagnosed with endometriosis since 2010 had a laparoscopic surgery to remove adhesions and my right ovary which had a huge cyst and my intestines were literally "glued" to my abdomen wall from endo .... I had some relief after being scraped clean but the pain has came back along with precancerous cells on my cervix and another massive cyst on ovary left ..So hysterectomy really seems to be best option at this point .. I'm nervous as I am very sensitive to hormonal changes was hospitalized every time I tried to take birth control ... That being said my doctor and I are going to be attempting to save my ovary and remove uterus and clean house so to speak ... And try lupron to sorta test drive menopause ... leaving my ovary though will leave great possibility o endometriosis Flare ups /return .... I didn't expect this to have such an emotional effect on me ... I've been depressed now although my only tube is tied the thought of not being at all ever capable carrying children leaves me with a feeling like I'll be less then a woman ... Like broken goods. I'm sorry if any of you find this offensive but I'm just being honest ... I'm totally rambling but with this surgery so close now I can't help but sorta panic ... At the age of 33 I don't have any friends who have gone through menopause and am scared outta my mind ..will I go nuts on synthetic hormones ? Will I totally lose my "mojo" ? So many what ifs . I sorta feel like there are no other options since my cervix seems so determined to go cancerous on me and the ovary and it's massive cyst . Not to mention seeing the da Vinci surgery robot is like seeing something outta a sci fi horror film .... Thankyou for giving me somewhere to vent my fears

Liptricky -

I am so sorry you have to have a hysterectomy. Know that all of your emotions and fears are very normal. It is very difficult to loose your uterus. It housed our babies for nine months - it is very special. The unknowns with what life will be like after surgery can weigh heavily.

I had my TAH BSO (age 46) over a year ago, and I still struggle with feelings of being less feminine. I am taking low dose oral ERT to help me deal with menopause symptoms. It has given me my life back.

Sweetie, we will be here by your side throughout this whole process. Keep posting your fears, emotions, vents, rants, and questions. It really does help.

We also have a endometriosis forum that you can post in for support as well.

It took me a few months to get the hormones right for my body but the bioidentical hormones (I use Vivelle dot) are working really well now. Don't be discouraged as it can take a while to get the right dose/delivery for you.

Blessings on your surgery and recovery.

Liptricky,

Good luck with your upcoming surgery. I do hope they are able to save your ovary since you have trouble with hormones...
