Hello! I am so happy I came across this website. I have been reading so much - however the more I read.... the more confused I get or the more questions I have. I am scheduled to have a Laparoscopic hysterectomy on July 11th. The plan is to take the uterus, both ovaries/tubes but leave the cervix. I'm concerned about the 'swelly belly', gas, incisions, mobility, bathroom issues and as dumb as this sound.... what clothing should I get/plan on needing. I realized I wouldn't fit into my jeans for awhile but honestly, never anticipated that my underwear would be an issue (I wear the bikini style). I plan on getting a night gown but mostly I just wear larger t-shirts to bed but figured I'd wear yoga pants/sweatpants but many others have said yoga pants don't work. Also, how long can I expect to be bloated and 2-3x my normal tummy size?

Any suggestions anyone has to share would be greatly appreciated. I've never had any surgeries that required going thru the stomach muscles so I have no idea what to expect. THANK YOU!!

Re: New Member

I'm sorry you find yourself facing surgery but am very glad you've found us, too and hope you'll benefit from being part of this amazing support community!

Princess Ruby has linked our Pre-Op Page above, which is packed with information, and also the Pre-Op Support Forum where you’ll find all the other ladies awaiting surgery. Please don’t hesitate to start a new thread there ~ just as you did here ~ so your ((sisters)) can share their experiences.

If the plan is to keep your cervix, then you may wish to amend the surgery details in your Member Survey since a TLH (total laparoscopic hysterectomy) removes the cervix and these details appear at the top right of all your posts. You can revisit your Member Survey by visiting your user control panel or clicking here.

We’re sending best wishes for your surgery and recovery!
