Re: Just started Vivelle patch

So today it's been one week and I haven't had another migraine. I did have a hot flash last night when I made a trip to walmart. It was my first time going there since my surgery and I didn't use the handicap cart since I wanted to try walking around. It was so hot in that store! lol I haven't had any emotional times although I've been reading a really cute book and I almost teared up. I think the patch is working but I'm not sure if I would even need a higher dose but of course that's what the doctor determines.

Val243, you might need a higher dose? What has everybody's doctors said about your doseage or changing it?

Re: Just started Vivelle patch

I started the patch about 2 years ago after my total hysterectomy. Sometimes when I start a new box of the patches (same dosage), I will have hormone imbalance symptoms such as: hot flashes, headaches, weepy, nausea, hoarseness, stiff joints. Those symptoms will last through the entire box. The symptoms start slowly after the first week, then by the end of the box (month) they are pretty severe. When I start a new box, if it is a different lot number, the symptoms sometimes go away or change to a different set of symptoms or I feel good again. I have concerns about the consistency of their manufacturing process. The patch has worked great these last few months until this month and I am having hot flashes, headaches, nausea and hoarseness again. Hopefully with the new box, I will feel good again.

Re: Just started Vivelle patch

I'm starting mt third week with these patches and haven't had any issues since the migraine at first. I would recommend them however check with your insurance on the cost first. With my insurance they end up being $53 per month so this will not work for me . I was given samples by my doctor and then a coupon for the first month so I will still be able to take them for several more weeks. MY use of these patches will depend on if I can keep finding coupons. I will ask to change to something else when I'm not able to find one.

Re: Just started Vivelle patch

my surgery was May 7th. they put the patch (.05) on me when i left the hospital the next day. the first 8 weeks i could not believe how great i felt and how much energy i had (i couldn't sleep), but.....my boobs went up a size and i gained 8-10 lbs (at 8 weeks post-op) and i had an aneurysm several years ago and i've heard estrogen raises blood clot risks. i decided to quit the patch. within a couple of days i started having hot flashes/sweats, major mood swings, depression, etc. (none of which i have ever experienced). i went to a holistic doctor last Thursday. she put me on progesterone. i won't get my blood/vitamin/hormone test results back for 2 weeks. this is the 4th night and no changes yet. i bought icool today but when i read reviews about it, i didn't even open it...will bring it back. i am hoping the weight gain was due to surgery and fluid, not the patch. my gyn told me she was only replacing the normal hormone my body normally produced before the ovaries were taken out. i am hoping to go back on the vivelle dot.......but if i gain weight again, i will stop again. i did get headaches some but doc told me to drink 1/2 my body weight in ounces....of water. it works. good luck to you. try the water and see if it gets rid of the headaches!

Re: Just started Vivelle patch

Hi ladies, I had my surgery 6-18 started vivelle dot .075 at 5 weeks was so hot and was like on big hot flash all day long... Since been on it have found that it is working great. I have also added progesterone cream to the regiment, and take 3 days of a month.. To keep estrogen receptors working. I did get headaches when I first started. But since i added progesterone cream I have not.... But I do notice that I have a deep bone ach when not on the progesterone cream( my days off) I have taken more vitimans not that ever! Added glucose mine to my list of vit. Too! It's helped with the bone ach.. I cant forget. I feel really good and have my energy back like before I had kids... Have and very low energy since had kids. I am 13 weeks out and doing pretty well... Only complaint it I have insomnia. PS ladies don't put the patch in the same spot!

Re: Just started Vivelle patch

I have been on the .05 patch since June and just took myself off it because I felt worse on it. I had headaches constantly, was shaking, couldn't sleep due to legs hurting. I was feeling crazy anxious and exhausted constantly. I am happy to say I have not had any problems without it so far.
