Re: Waiting for cone biopsy results - AIS

Aww Samantha. While I'm glad you finally got your results, I am sorry they suck!!! And no judging here - If I hadn't stopped drinking twenty years ago, I'd be right there with you!!!! I was oddly unemotional the day after I was told I had cancer. There was just nothing there. My husband said he was quite worried about me because it was like I had just checked out. I agree it is how the brain protects itself. Give it time, that will change!

While I hope my cone gives me a miracle, I strongly suspect my results will be similar to yours when my cone comes back. We are getting pretty much the same surgery, mine is only a week away (ACK!!!). Remember that you, too, are stronger than you think and we WILL get through this!!!

Re: Waiting for cone biopsy results - AIS

Sam, I'm so sorry you got that diagnosis. I think we all have to process that information in our own way. Even when we suspect, it's kind of a shock to have it confirmed. So we open our minds to the thought one tiny bit at a time until we can handle it. I know I thought to myself, "Okay, it's cancer. What next?" Shortly after my D&C and cancer diagnosis, my mother was diagnosed with metastatic cancer, hospitalized, moved to hospice, and passed away two days before my hysterectomy. All this within 2.5 weeks. So I was almost sleepwalking - just doing what had to be done, figuring I'd deal with the concept later on.

You are obviously strong and courageous and I'm sure you will fight this with everything you've got. Know that you have our good wishes and prayers.

"honkerblonk"... *snortle-chuckle* priceless! first time i've laughed all week.

frodo and sam ... you ladies are so awesome! sharing your stories and fears like this is an amazing thing to do. to see your senses of humour coming thru under such circumstances shows incredible spirit and i wish you both nothing but the absolute best as you go thru the processes that must be done.

*huge cyber hugz*

kay from oz - Thank you so much for the kind words!! "Frodo and Sam" - makes it sound like we are on our way to Mordor to throw the ring into the fires of Mount Doom! And I guess, in a way, we are!

Frodo and Sam......I love it! You really are starting on a journey! And the rest of us in this "fellowship" are right there with you to support you, too! I'm sorry for where you are right now but you can win this battle and go on to be totally healed!

Re: Waiting for cone biopsy results - AIS

Monami - thanks for the well-wishes! I do plan on kicking this thing's boo-tay! Thanks for the search advice - but I'm pretty sure I've read every single thread ever written on AIS and adenocarcinoma. What can I say - I like to be educated. Or I'm just obsessive - not sure which.

Frodo - heck yes, we'll get through this! Although I'm still praying your cone comes back only with the AIS. Sent more to you in an e-mail - sorry for checking out for a few days. I won't do that again, honest!

Anne - thanks for the prayers - I need all I can get! I'm still sleep walking through this, I think. Have completely avoided thinking about it or dealing with it since yesterday morning. And oh my goodness - I cannot believe all you went through in such a short time. I don't think I would have been able to handle all of that - you are definitely a strong, amazing woman!

Kay - *snortle-chuckle*? I LOVE it! Stealing that too. And I will continue to update my progress - I am doing my best to help out any current or future ladies who have to go through this same thing. Will do my best to keep finding the humor in the situation - laughter really is the best medicine. Well, that and apparently a radical hysterctomy. Thanks for the well-wishes!

Robyn - Normal to CIN3 in 9 months? Wow! So glad to hear you haven't had any further problems and kicked this beastie's butt!

Frodo and Heart & Home - Oh. My. Goodness. How did I not see that before! I told my man about the Mordor/fellowship bit and he loved it! You're right - we're going to go on this journey, do battle, and emerge victorious.

Re: Waiting for cone biopsy results - AIS

Hi ladies - figured to avoid writing one long post that was looooooooong, I'd just do a new reply to update everyone on how I'm doing. I mentally checked out the day after my diagnosis. And it was easy to do - spent the next day finding a new car to replace the drunk-hit-and-run-driver-totaled car and spent today off getting my hair done. Nothing exciting coming up soon, so I guess it's time to accept the fact that I'm in denial and get to dealing with this. Boo. So until that happens, I'm still doing ok. If it hasn't sunk in by Wednesday, when I see my gyn/onc again to discuss my upcoming surgery, then I'm sure that'll do it for me. But I definitely have to be in denial or something - my man is currently taking it worse than me. So yeah - I'm definitely checked out. I'll do my best not to run away and hide from the boards though and to keep everyone updated.

I think it was good for you to mentally get away from it all for a bit. I'm sure it will sink in soon enough and we'll be here for you when it does.
