Newbie from the UK (ex Canadian). Hi all.

Hi ladies,

I've been lurking around reading posts here for a while, and decided to man up and join finally.

I'm 40, and have just been through my first lap, and was told I have stage IV endo, loads of adhesions, 2 fibroids (which have grown from 15mm to 40mm in under a year) etc etc. They excised what they could, and removed lots of adhesions (apparently things were all tied in knots), and lazered off tons of endo from bladder, small intestine, ovaries, uterus. That was on June 8th and I still feel like I haven't totally recovered.

My gyno says I am a very good candidate for a total hysterectomy. I am on decapeptyl for 3 months to see how I deal with the lack of estrogen.

Bit of a shock really, but good to know I wasn't making things up and that I have a reason for the pain.

My uterus is attached to my bowel, and so will need a resection apparently. This scares me a lot.

I had endometrial ablation done in November, which was brilliant, no periods now to speak of and no cramping, but the back pain never went away, and in fact is getting worse and worse, hence the lap. It used to just be before and during my period, but now it is relentless.

Anyways, thanks for all your help gals, be well.

Nicky

Re: Newbie from the UK (ex Canadian). Hi all.

Nicky

It's nice to have you join us!

If you know for certain that you will be scheduling a hysterectomy, you're welcome to start new threads on the Pre-Op Hysterectomy Support message board to ask for support and to ask questions of pre- and post-op Sisters. There's good information in the Pre-Op Page to use as well. If you have questions that relate to your diagnosis of endometriosis, you may prefer to post them on the Endometriosis Support message board so that you can get input from those dealing with the same disease, both before and after their surgeries. Hopefully your doctor has already explained to you that a hysterectomy, with or without also removing the ovaries (oophorectomy), isn't a cure for endometriosis. It's possible to continue to have problems even after surgery.

We look forward to sharing with you and send best wishes!
