Vaginal discharge and strange pains
I am 4 weeks post op and not sure about what I've been experiencing. I have on and off vaginal discharge which sometimes looks like old blood and sometimes is yellowish and rather thick. It's not very much, maybe a teaspoon in size. I've come close to calling the doctor, but it always seems to go away before I call and then a few days later will pop up again. I also have random pains sometimes on the left side, right side and sometimes lower abdominal. The strangest of the pains is a sharp pain that shoots down the middle of my right butt cheek. I figured it's just the healing process. Also, I'm reading all of these posts from women that are 7 weeks post op and having sex. My doc said no sex for 12 weeks! Anyone else been told 12 weeks??? And does that mean any sex or just vaginal penetration?

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
The yellow gold discharge is your sutures healing inside. Sometimes you will notice a foul odor with it too. Mine had stopped and then restarted just the other day I am almost at 5 weeks. I was told no lifting no bending for 6 weeks and nothing to be inserted until I had my pre op and then we will see. I was also told no tub or pool or ocean for 8 weeks.

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
Thank you for your response. I wasn't told no bending and I've been bending so I will stop that! I'm so anxious to start wearing my new panties, but for now I'm sticking with the old ones! Thank you again for your insight! I wish you the best and hope you are feeling well!

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
I was only told nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks, no vaccuming & no lifting over 20 lbs. The Dr. mentioned nothing about bending or any form of sex other than vaginal.
I don`t know what to say about the discharge since I ended up with an infection that increased my discharge. Sorry i can`t help.
I did go in last week to follow up about my infection and she cleared me to vacuum so that is exciting.
Happy healing

I guess we're all in about the same boat. I never thought I would hear someone say they are excited about vacuuming!

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
I am almost 4 weeks post op and have the same yellow discharge. I went to the dr. Thurs because I could tell I had a UTI. He swabbed to make sure I didn't have an infection. I go back this Thurs. and I'll see what the result was. I am on antibiotic for the UTI and the discharge has remained the same, so maybe not an infection? Good news is my left incision that was not healing is closing up quickly since I started the antibiotics so it probably was infected. I'll let you know what the lab test results are from the discharge when I get them.

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
I have an appt. for next week too and will post what the findings are. I hadn't thought about a UTI because I don't have any othe symptoms, but that could be the issue too. Thanks for the info and best of luck with your meds.

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
 Ladies,
I spotted off and on for six weeks and then it just stopped like someone had turned off a faucet. The yellow/brownish discharge is your internal stitches starting to dissolve. As long as you are not filling up a pad an hour or experiencing severe pain (some minor pain is part of the healing process), you should be fine. Of course don't hesitate to call your doctor if you are concerned. That's what he's there for.
Good luck healing.

Re: Vaginal discharge and strange pains
I remembered from childbirth that "yellow" was the last color of discharge. But this is different, at least for me. Its "goopy" but very small amounts. I don't think it is connected to my UTI, but the doctor wanted to culture the discharge while I was there. I'll let you know what she says Thursday.
