New here, 10 days post op

Hi, I've been reading these forums just a little bit starting when I was first thinking about having a hysterectomy. I'm 37yrs old, have 2 kids ages 11 and 14, and a wonderful husband of almost 17yrs. Surgery was July 9th, done laporospically (can't spell that) and vaginal. They took my uterus and cervix, left my ovaries. I had this done after MANY years (really a lifetime, since starting periods) of irregular periods, long periods, and finally just bleeding most of the time. It really affected my life. I tried everything under the sun to not have to go this route (except for trying an IUD or ablation). It was elective, but my dr said "I don't blame you." Recovery really has been going very well, my biggest worry is bleeding. It hasn't stopped or let up, but it's light and pink. Logically I'm not worried, but emotionally I am. Even though I kept my ovaries, I'm having major sweating and hot flashes, but I do believe it's because my ovaries went into shock and they have to "restart". My moods are just fine, pretty even keeled. I feel so good that it makes it hard to do nothing and sit around, but I'm being a good girl. Thank you all for sharing your stories as well!
