Happy I had the surgery!

I wanted to post my testimonial hoping it would help others. First there is a lot of information out on the Internet / Public domain that is very overwhelming and frankly some data not valid or accurate. After suffering many years with having horrific cycles at the age of 42, I along with my family and consultation with my Ob decided that I would have a hysterectomy ( laprascopic ) which was the best choice for me. I've always had fibroids but they started to grow and just caused more problems. Once you make your decision please be careful who and how you share the news as some women will have a negative reaction or want to offer unsolicited advice. So as a warning please please be careful who you share your surgery decision with. Also as women we share too much and once your business is out there then you are obligated to have conversations you may or may not be ready to have. This can be a sensitive time and you really want to surround yourself with
people who are supportive and knowledgeable about the topic.

9 days ago I had the surgery and have absolutely no regrets! The pre op process went well and the OR process went even better. My doctor and nurses were very informative, nurturing, and attentive. My pain was manageable with meds. So far this process has been great and I'm happy I decided to have the surgery. The hardest part about my recovery is taking it easy and not being able to exercise. And trust me you have to slow down to heal your body.

I'm excited about having a better quality of life as I'll have no more periods,

embarrassing soling my clothes and excessive spend on sanitary products! I don't have to live or plan my life around my cycle any more! Whooooohooooo!

Post op Tips:

Get the catheter out ASAP as you'll feel better
Have friends bring and prepare meals for you
If you have young children make sure you have a relative stay a few days with you to maybe give your hubby some support.
Take loose clothing to wear home
Have a heating pad
Make sure you know which bed you can sleep in at home that is low and comfortable.
Make sure your pantry / refrigerator is well stocked with healing foods.

Now I feel like I can now be totally healthy / well because I'm fixed on the inside vs being consumed with how I looked on the outside.

During the actual surgery you want feel a thing. Afterwards my only compliant was the catheter so I got that out ASAP so I could jump start using the bathroom on my own. The longer you leave the catheter in will cause pain when you do urinate but it will quickly go away.
