Fluid filled cysts on ovaries

I'm not sure where to post my question, but does anyone know what causes cysts to form on the ovaries? I have both ovaries, uterus was removed several years ago due to huge fibroids. I still have unbearable pain, feels just like menstrual cramps. They come and go like clock work. If I can figure out what makes the cysts form, maybe I can treat the problem and not have to have surgery to remove the ovaries. I sure do regret not having everything taken out the first time! I'm laid off, don't have a job and I need to try to figure out a plan to get through this. I can feel when the fluid is seeping out of the cysts. Icky feeling...

Re: Fluid filled cysts on ovaries

Sounds to me like you are getting functional cysts, which are a normal part of the ovulation process. You may want to talk to your dr about options such as birth control to help the forming of the cysts. I know taking out the ovaries would be a quick fix, but let me tell you that opens a whole other world of problems. I personally suggest trying the least invasive ways first. GOOD LUCK to you!!
