Re: Rectum adhered to vaginal cuff

I'm prone to pinched nerves in my lower back. When I have nerve pain, narcotics pain killers alone provide no relief at all. For me, Soma works the best for nerve pain.

Re: Rectum adhered to vaginal cuff

I will find out when I see the pain specialists. I did some reading on some of the treatments they use to treat nerve pain and I will keep Soma in mind. All the best on your journey.

I do, however, have hope again which is something I'm grateful for. When I first went to the Pain Clinic the doc told me the pain I have is the most difficult to treat and it MAY go away one day. But I should not expect it to get better, we would just try to stop it from getting worse and I took classes to teach me to live with it. It was very difficult for me to switch my mindset from getting rid of the pain to just learning to live with it. It was a sad time. Now (thanks to my pelvic floor physiotherapist) I am back to hoping to get rid of it but I know it will take a very long time, if it works at all. Fingers crossed!!
I am sorry that you are dealing with that level of pain. I cannot imagine what it meant to hear that it may never end, but so glad that you have found new hope. I empathize with you about your son-I don't want my kids to see their mom as always in pain and unable to run and play. I sometimes get up and push myself to do just so they won't be so worried about me. I hope you find more success with your new physiotherapist. Sending hugs your way-

Re: Rectum adhered to vaginal cuff

Godiva, thank you. It's interesting how different meds can work on different people. I'm on Lyrica ($$$!) and get no relief with that, or gabupentin. Some narcotics don't work while Percocet does... Go figure. It's really trial and error to find what meds and treatment work for each of us.

Godiva, did you have your appt today?

I hope you can get relief. Should you ever decide to think about surgery again, I would get to a urogynecologist, preferably in a teaching situation, or a gyn oncology surgeon. They are skilled at intricate surgical procedures on women.

Re: Rectum adhered to vaginal cuff

I just caught up on your story as mine is somewhat similar though not near as bad as yours. My ovaries and Fallopian tubes were adhered to my vaginal cuff and I spent a year in pain with no pain meds but I did have physical therapy which did help alleviate the pain a little. I just had my surgery two days ago to correct my problem and I am hoping it is a permanent fix (fingers crossed) but I tell you what the doctors now all think everyone is just out for drugs and they do not take anyone seriously. I even had one doctor try to put me on anxiety medicine and try to tell me it was all in my head!

So have faith and don't give up! No one should suffer and keep trying because eventually someone will listen!

Also do the symptom diary! I found when I could actually write times of day, mitigating factors and have my actual thoughts at the time at hand instead of memories it was a lot easier to communicate more effectively to the doctors.
