Cleared to have sex but still having discharge

My surgeon told me at my four wk check up that I could resume sex in two weeks. Which is fine by me...but the husband is anxious and asking if Ill be ready to go when I hit the six week mark. I am willing to try but I am concerned that the small amout of discharge which is a light rusty color is a sign that I am still healing . Id like to know if any of you were cleared while still experiencing spotting or dishcarge.

I think the discharge is a sign your not fully healed yet. I had a discharge ( looked like a tea or cola stain on the TP when I wiped) when I went in for my 6 week checkup my doc did an internal. She said the discharge was seepage from my vaginal cuff and it wasn't healed yet. She said wait 2 more weeks to have sex, but wait longer if the discharge was still there. She told me a scary story about a patient of hers from the past that busted open her vaginal cuff at 6 weeks from sex and needed emergency surgery.My discharge didn't end until 9 and 1/2 weeks, and I waited one more week past that before having sex. I know your impatient and that is normal. Your DH needs to know your risk. If your not healed and you go ahead and have sex it could end up being a horrible experience for you both and cause you to both have to wait even longer.I'd stall till the discharge is gone!

omg busted vagina cuff, Im in no rush for sex and reading that it can bust open. i wouldn't want to start healing all over again.

No, I wasn't cleared. I just reached week 7 and now have just a tiny bit of discharge every other day. I had my check-up last Friday and I was told I have another 4 weeks to go before I'm cleared.
