To keep my ovarires or not - that is the question

Having supra cervical laparoscopic and was told by a good friend to consider letting them remove my ovaries too. She explained that she kept hers during surgery and had cancer shortly after. I had an abnormal pap smear over 20 years ago, but none recently. Any thoughts?

Re: To keep my ovarires or not - that is the question

We're very glad you've joined and hope you'll benefit from the wealth of information and support here!

Princess Ruby has linked our Pre-Op Page above, which is packed with information, but please feel free to start a new thread (just as you did here) in the <link> Pre-Op Support Forum where others can share their experiences.

Please also take a moment to add the surgery date to your profile (if you know it) in order to fully participate on the site and in the forums. Many support features are triggered by this and we wouldn't want you to miss out! You can do that by visiting your user control panel, or using the first link in the reply above. (Remember to then scroll down and click on “save changes”).

We’re sending best wishes for your surgery and recovery!
