Burning scalp and Hair Loss. Need Help.

Hi, I'm new here. I have burning scalp and hair loss. I am post meno and 48 years old. This started 2 years ago when I was peri-meno. My estrogen went from 200 down to 17 this past year. I felt bad at both levels. My ears also have pressure and burn. My hair is quite thin on the top. I've lost over half my hair. The hair loss is more than the re-growth. My Free testosterone is <0.2, so that doesn't apprear to be causing my problem. 3 weeks ago I started Bi-est 2.5 with 100 mg progesterone--all in 1 pill. I don't see any improvement after 3 weeks, and the past few days I seem to be worse. I have been to 5 doctors, including a dermatologist, It's not a scalp infection or dandruff. The pain is very bad. Any advise on this is greatly appreciated.

Re: Burning scalp and Hair Loss. Need Help.

Have you tried an endocrinologist and have all your hormones tested? Maybe he can be of some help.

I hope you find some answers soon.

Re: Burning scalp and Hair Loss. Need Help.

I am going to a family doc that specialized in women's health. She's trying to balance thyroid and sex hormones. Do my symptoms sound like they are hormone realted? I've seen older posts here about Burning scalp and hair loss from ladies 4-6 weeks post op. It seems to be a mystery to most doctors.

Re: Burning scalp and Hair Loss. Need Help.

Hello!

If you've looked around the message boards of this site, you've probably figured out that the focus here at HysterSisters is support for women who are seeking information about hysterectomies, as well as for those who are scheduled for or recovering from that surgery.

There are hormone forums on this site but they are specifically intended for women who have had a hysterectomy, with or without an oophorectomy. The hormone needs of a woman with an intact uterus and ovaries (like yourself) are different from those of us who no longer have those organs and our experiences won't necessarily be the same.

I do know of two popular website communities that are geared toward support for women in natural menopause. One is power-surge.com and the other is minniepauz.com. Have you visited those sites? If not, then I hope you will because I'm sure you'll get the best support from women who can relate to your situation.

If, at some point, you find yourself in need of information to help with a hysterectomy decision, then I hope you'll check back here.

(Please don't hesitate to reply on this thread again, however, if I've misunderstood and you have had a hysterectomy and/or oophorectomy).

Best wishes!

Re: Burning scalp and Hair Loss. Need Help.

I am in a lot of pain and am seeking help from those on this site that have the same symptoms.

I understand your point but was hoping for help here.

Re: Burning scalp and Hair Loss. Need Help.

Because the ladies here are dealing with hormonal issues in conjunction with a hysterectomy, even if they have the same or similar issues as you the treatment may not be the same because our members are lacking their uterus and/or ovaries.

Women who use the sites suggested above have found the to be helpful for those dealing with natural menopause issues without a hysterectomy or oophorectomy so they might also be helpful for you.

in there!
