Sever tummy pain and swelling 6 months post op....PLEASE HELP AND ADVISE!!!??? XXX
Hello Ladies
Firstly thank you so much for taking the time to read this.I am also extremely anxious I have made a huge mistake in having this hysterectomy at 36 years old and would love to hear your stories, advice and support.
As already mentioned I had my TAH 6 months ago and my tummy is still so swollen and hanging/ dragging down and causing really uncomfortable crampy pain. In turn this is pulling and very much aching my lower spine to the point of feeling like I could be sick. It has also at times stopped my in the street as I am unable to take another step until the pain eases for me to get home. The pain radiates from my lower spine and can also travel down my inner thighs into and around my knee caps. I had this type of pain pre op and was one of the reasons, along with Endometreosis, that I had the surgery as was told it was referred pain from my ovaries but now I am so scared it wasnt that at all.
The other thing I would like advise on is that I feel an abdominal support could work well. I purchased an elastic band a week or 2 following surgery but it offered little firm support as it had a "tummy pocket" in the front at the place I needed it to be firmer. I know the one this site offers looks amazing but its a little too pricey and living in the UK Id have to wait a while when I need it like NOW!!! Do they help and do they support you in the places you need it? I have found adjustable binders for Post Natal women especially following a C-Section and I wonder too if this would help?
I would love to hear from you as I am very tearful and scared. I have an extremely skilled consultant however I know he feels his job is done and I need to get on with it. I have been seeing him for 10 years and he has been such a support but its end of the line time on this one. I have a great GP but she has run the tests with regard to infection, internal bleeding etc and I think she too has run out of answers. I may be wrong. I may be over reacting but the pain is there and im frightened.
Thank you so much for your time.
All my love Hayley xxx

I would call your gyn. Mine told me some pain was normal for the 1st 6 months. But if I had any pain after that to call him to be seen. He said pain after 6 months could be do to adhesions. Please see your doctor.

xhayleyxx! for you! I am sooo sorry you are having such bad pain. My goes out to you. I agree about you calling the who did your surgery. But, also maybe see your GP (sounds like you are very comfortable with her) & talk with her. Explain whst you may fear is going on (i do think we get gut feelings abt an answer sometimes). Also, maybe speak with her about getting a referral to a pain specialist or maybe even a physical therapist that specializes in treating abdominal/pelvic pain. The pain you describe sounds like it could be related to nerve issues since it travels so much. Since it starts in your back, maybe ask your GP if she thinks a chiropractor could help. I find it amazing how miserable 1 or 2 "little" nerves can make us feel.
I think your idea of the binder is a great one. Do you have a medical supply store you could go to? Maybe you would be able to try some different ones out & see what might feel the best.
I completely undestand what you are going through! Please know that you are NOT alone! We are all here for you! Please let us know how things go.
