Repair surgeries are not invincible. Heavy lifting can cause your repairs to fail. Please take care of yourself. I was told not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk for the first 8 weeks and then nothing over 25lbs for the rest of my life if I want my repairs to stick.

Re: stomach swells and my tailbone aches when I do heavy lifting

Thanks for asking...I am doing well. My incision is healing great. My swelling is almost gone so long as I am not to active. I'm taking my norco pain med less like close to 8 hrs sometimes. My doc says I should use my own common sense with what I can and can't do. I tried driving last fri 10 days after surgery not a good idea. I will wait til next week to try again. Curious what other people were told they can or can't do? Other wise bladder working well. Bowels a little slow still but working. I take 2 stool softeners a day an activia yogurt and a tablespoon of flaxseed oil. Seems to work how r u guys

I'm doing good. Had my six week checkup on Monday and was told everything was good and I didn't have to go back. Asked about exercising and was told to wait another two weeks. I still have some swelling above the incision and it seems worse at the end of the day. Otherwise, I feel good. Very glad that it's all over (especially the pain).

I don't think I drove for about a month, but my husband and I are retired, so he was always there to drive. My doctor told me to drive when I felt up to it.

Re: stomach swells and my tailbone aches when I do heavy lifting

Hi All:
The week after my six week check up I felt a bulge again in my vagina. I can feel that something is there again. Was told at my check up everything was fine, but it doesn't feel that way now. Did anyone have this problem after their surgery? I have an appointment on Monday with my doctor to see what's going on. I thought this was all over. What's next?????

Re: stomach swells and my tailbone aches when I do heavy lifting

Went to the doctor this morning and he told me everything he did was still good. He said it was the mesh from the first bladder surgery that I had a year ago. Said he could fix it in a 15 minute out-patient surgery. I told him I really didn't want to think about surgery again, so he said I could live with it and if it still bothered me I could have it done any time. Why do our insides have to fall apart? God has to start revamping our bodies to last as long as we're living now. Hope everyone is well.

Im thinking it is the same as the sacropoplexy?? Anyways, after having a bad reaction to morophine which caused me to puke for the first day and a half, as well as my blood pressure and sugar dropping...now I'm doing good. i didnt come home until today because I couldnt have a bm or pass gas until yesterday evening. Today I walked around the yard a little and slept alot. Very tired but really feeling pretty good. I go for check up next Friday to ck the incision but nothing was done vaginally at all. he said i may need an outpatient surgery to complete things from below but he doesnt do those surgeries together for the sake of infection. i did have a very large enterocele and rectocele (sure im spelling those wrong). I am not leaking either. Any suggestions on how to get rid of the gas???

Wishing all of you happy thoughts and prayers,
Hi there! I am so excited to read of someone who had the same procedure as me. I also had a Subtotal hystorectomy. I am 6 weeks post op and still feeling tender in my abdomin and still have pressure in my abdomin. Do you remember how long it was before you felt normal without any pressure or tenderness to the touch?
