OK to use ben wa balls with vaginal cuff?

I just logged in - 13 months after "receiving' my vaginal cuff following total laparoscopic, DaVinci assisted hysterectomy - because I decided to insert the ben wa balls I bought recently and while they feel fine, thought I should find out if they're okay to use with a cuff.

I have a little bit of occasional stress incontinence, but I mostly am curious about how they would feel. Sexual arousal is so different without my uterus...much more concentrated in and around the clitorus...maybe the ben wa balls will help with muscle awareness around the cuff. Too soon to tell, but they do feel somewhat pleasurable, and give me something to squeeze.

Would like to hear from anyone who knows about this...I don't want to use them if I shouldn't...but if intercourse is okay, seems like the ben was should be okay too, doesn't it?

Thank you!

(((Pippa))) no one here can tell you for sure that it's OK or not OK to use them. You will need to ask your doctor, who knows your particular history and the condition of your vaginal cuff.

I'll bet this is the sort of thing you can get an answer to over the phone... why not just call the office and ask?

(((hugs))),

Re: OK to use ben wa balls with vaginal cuff?

I don't know from personal experience, but I would think that it would be just fine (and and excellent workout!). I think of it as one big, continuous kegel. The balls are sitting directly above the vaginal opening, with downward pressure due to gravity. I would assume that unless you are doing head stands with the balls in, that they wouldn't be touching your cuff. And if they are, unless you've had problems healing over the last year, it should be fine. Again, I'm not speaking from experience; it's just my opinion and I'm also very interested in hearing anyone else's advice on this too Best of luck!

Re: OK to use ben wa balls with vaginal cuff?

I would second discussing it with your doctor. At the very least, I'd recommend not using them before 15 weeks post op. The vaginal cuff formed by a Divinci surgery doesn't heal as fast as those formed by other hysterectomies. I even still felt some pain and pressure in there up to 15 weeks. I've read of a DvH vaginal cuff tearing at 12 weeks. The best thing to do would be to ask your doctor.
