Just started Premarin .3 mg

Hi ladies,

I just took my first dose of Premarin .3 mg. Who has had what experience with it? I'm post op about 6 weeks now and having hot/cold nights and waking up maybe every hour or two. Doctor says it's a low dose and I should not be concerned with breast cancer risk with estrogen only. What should I expect? 110 lbs, .3 mg... ? How long before it kicks in?

Thanks!

Re: Just started Premarin .3 mg

.3mg is a very low dose. I would give it at least 6 weeks, if not longer. That said; the .3 may not be enough to alleviate your symptoms.

Re: Just started Premarin .3 mg

After being on the Vivelle Dot for 2 months and feeling very, very depressed and anxious, not to mention awful hot flashes and insomnia, my doctor switched me to Premarin. I started on .3mg and moved up to .45mg two weeks ago. I cannot believe how GREAT I feel: I am sleeping, less anxious, no depression, and very rarely have hot flashes. If I do have a hot flash, it only lasts a few seconds vs. hours and hours when I was on the patch. I LOVE Premarin and cannot see myself ever going off it. I hope it works for you!

Re: Just started Premarin .3 mg

That is a very low dose. I started out on .625 and I was still having horrible night sweats and crying uncontrollably. It just wasn't enough for me, so my doc raised it to .9...which still wasn't enough so finally I was put on 1.25 and that was the magic number for me. Everyone is a little different and some tweaking needs to be done with your dosages. It can be a frustrating and time consuming experience, but when you finally get what you need, you feel sooo much better. Hopefully you are getting some relief by now!!

Re: Just started Premarin .3 mg

I had my hysterectomy and ovaries removed May 2nd. My GYN put me on the Bi-Est cream and I have used it for 3 months. Hot flashes and night sweats are unbearable...amongst other complaints! Went to a new GYN today (my old GYN /surgeon is 3 hours away) and she put me on the Premarin .3mg. So I start it tomorrow...fingers crossed.

Re: Just started Premarin .3 mg

Agree with the others...very low dose. I found (when I was trying to figure this out) that I would usually feel better on Premarin in about 3-5 days.

I was having trouble last few months and I finally realized it was because I had dropped the dose. Dr suggested and I did it willingly, but have had issues ever since. Now, I’m back up in dosage and so much better.
