Rlq pain and right hip pain

Hi, I had my surgery about 16 months ago- I had the davinci surgery to remove my uterus and left ovary. The Left ovary was pretty much obliterated by the endo and bleeding into my pelvis. I had adenomyosis in the uterus as well. About 4 months ago I started to get cramps every month (must be endo on my bowels) and a recurrent pain in the spot where my left ovary used to be- I called it my phantom ovary pain.
About a month ago I started to have some intermittent rlq pains- then woke up one day and my right hip hurt really bad- kind of like I needed to pop it but couldn't and I was kind of limpy all day. The next day this morphed into a constant fairly severe pain in the rlq that hurt for 3 days- I didnt sleep or eat, and ended up in the ER twice- the first time they did an u/s and said my right ovary looked fine. The second time I had a ct-scan (because I was concerned about appendicitis) It was unremarkable except for the fact that my appendix and cecum are in a weird place, under my tailbone and midline not on the right side.
The referred me to a gyn who agreed with me that my endo is probably the cause. He gave me a choice of Lupron and/or surgery. I took a week to think about but have now been in pain for almost a month- have an appointment to see him on Monday and I am requesting surgery.
What are the chances this hip pain is because of the endo?? I am 35, healthy and very active (ran 30 miles in the month of June) have never had problems with my hips or joints before. Anyone else have any experience with endo pain in the hip?

Re: Rlq pain and right hip pain

My endo pain was on my left side where I eventually had my ovary removed. My pain wrapped around my hip down my buttocks and horribly into my rectum.

Re: Rlq pain and right hip pain

I just had LSO done on Tuesday, my pain was in my left hip. I used to wake up in morning with lot of joint pain in left hip. They found a lot of endo on the left side in surgery, nothing on right. I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is the end of it.

Re: Rlq pain and right hip pain

I am having an exp lap done next week- by a different surgeon than my previous. He did a fine job I am sure but after that surgery I asked him about what I could do to help keep it from coming back (like diet etc) and he flat out told me it would not come back. Clearly not an endo specialist... The surgeon I met with today told me he would clean up any adhesions/ endo he finds but said he didnt really know why i was having pain. There is no way I can be this miserable and not have a reason. He has to find something!!

Re: Groin, hip, and leg pain

I have been having fairly awful right lower pelvic pain that radiates around my hip. It is worse when I sit for long periods of time- like at the computer or in a car. I went to the er twice because I thought it might be my appendix. First time they did an u/s second time a ct scan. Not my appendix, everything looked fine. Followed up with gyn. He has agreed to do an exp lap on the 28th. He also said I was a "mystery" and couldnt guarantee he would find the problem. He did agree it might be my endo returned/ adhesions from my hyster, scar tissue/ or some kind of nerve involvement.
I have been living in fear the last week that he will do surgery and not find the cause. The only time I have been able to feel ok, and the only time I ave had an appetite in the last month is when I take a vicodin- who wants to have to do that?????

Well we all know endo can grow back, and even the smallest adhesion can cause terrible pain. However...also inquire about myofascial pelvic pain.

Re: Groin, hip, and leg pain

Hi everyone how strange same problems I am having wonder what it is? I had hysterectomy april2011 as they thought I had adenomyosis but pathology report came back normal.they only found old endometriosis and pelvic venous congestion.can't believe I went through all that and am still suffering.I am 32 and have been suffering with pain since I was 18.I have had previous history of endo and interstitial cystitis and polycycstic ovaries but they reckon that this is all not an issue at the moment.I have had sharp tainted in abdomen, pain in groin and caesarean scar, cranky dull ache in lower back sometimes in abdomen going into groin ,thigh, calf and into foot for past two years.sometimes so bad I cry myself to sleep.(always gets worse of evening)doctor has now discharged me from his care as he don't think it's a gynae issue anymore and has sent me to pain clinic.sounds like a fob off to me.does that mean they aren't going to find cause and just give me pain releif?.am so frustrated this pain must mean something is clearly wrong you don't suffer pain for nothing.my husband thinks it sounds like sciatica what do you all think?nice to know I am not suffering this pain alone.if anyone finds out what it could be please let me know

Re: Rlq pain and right hip pain

Keep in mind, chronic pain can create a situation where pain can persist even once the source of pain has been removed. Here is an article on good and bad pain you might find interesting:

Hopefully after your lap you will have some answers. Will your surgeon be checking for anything besides endometriosis and adhesions? Before my last surgery, my specialist had me fill out a very detailed pain diagram of the body so he could check all areas where I had been feeling pain. He also checked for hernias though we didn't think that was the issue. He also did a cystoscopy with hydrodistention as he suspected IC and he was right!

in there!

This was my story! I wish I had found this site sooner because I thought I was crazy! I had an endometrioma removed in 3/2011. The pain got better, but then came back on my right hip. If I sat for too long, I would cramp. Every few weeks, I had shooting pain in vagina/rectum, around hip, down thigh, etc. . Vicodin was all I could take as I destroyed my stomach with Motrin. Surgery 2 days ago....another endometrioma in right ovary. Had hysterectomy too. Hoping it resolves issues. Good luck to you and I hope you get relief soon.

Re: Rlq pain and right hip pain

I had an exploratory lap on the 28th. good news/bad news. My right ovary looks great and no obvious endo. This of course, leaves me with pain and no easy fix. They told me it was probably a nerve "entrapment" and he is referring me to a pain clinic- which he promised does not mean they will throw pills at me. He said they can do some kind of trigger point injections into the area. I think I will try acupuncture. Huge bummer though, went through the surgery for pretty much nothing and still have the pain. (with the added lap site pain/gas pain/sore throat from intubation and bladder spasms from the catheter during the procedure.
Good news, I dont have to think about Lupron injections right now.
