No ovaries. The right one was withered and nearly strangled by adhesions, and the left was riddled with cysts.

Re: If you had a hysterectomy, did you keep your ovaries?

I kept both ovaries.

Having had severe pelvic pain for months, I was at wits end. My primary did lots of tests and found ovarian cysts. But not big enough to cause so much pain. He referred me to my GYN, but I had just seen her for a full check up recently and she had said everything looked "fine", which was why I was back at the PCP looking for non-GYN causes.

So I went to a different GYN who found a cystocele and enlarged prolapsed uterus. I am so thankful to my ovaries for making enough "noise" for me to seek a second opinion.

My new doc said the ovaries may have to go later, but for now for me they will be more of a benefit than a burden.

no, doc told me that might get in the way if I ever had to have bowel resections due to my crohn's disease.

Both of my ovaries were removed. One of the reasons I cannot have children is because of my ovaries, so they are worthless to me anyway. My doctor recommended they be removed and it turns out there was a cyst on one of them. Now I don't have to worry about ovarian cancer, just HRT. I'd rather take my chances with HRT.

I kept both my ovaries, but i did sign a form before I went into surgery to say that if life threatening or badly damaged I gave permission to remove them. Thankfully I got to keep them. I am so pleased I had the hysterectomy due to endometriosis, best thing I have ever done!
