Am I normal??

I had a robot assisted total hysterectomy on 8-3, since then I have been on a roller coaster of emotions. Some days I am upbeat, others I feel like I am going to cry all day. The crying seems to come at the worst possible times, like when I am in bed with my fiance and he has to be up for work in 3 hours. He gets frustrated that I am crying, then I get upset and cry more.

Also I read the article of what is allowed and not allowed after hysterectomy. I seem to be doing too much that is on the not not allowed list. How did any of you cope with feeling that if you did not do something it would not be done. Or cope with a significant other that doesn't seem to understand that you should be taking it easy.

Re: Am I normal??

(((hugs))) yes hun you are normal. After my surgery I would cry at the drop of a hat. I would be fine one minute, grumpy the next and crying 10 minutes later. My poor family didn't know what to think. This surgery is hard on you physically and emotionally Your emotions will balance themselfs out I promise. Just be patient with yourself. At the dinner table one night a apolgized to my family and asked them to bare with me ad my emotions where not right yet. The talk really helped them understand that I didn't mean to yell at them or cry when I heard a song It will be ok hun. Take care.

Re: Am I normal??

You are normal and it will get better. I came out to surgery with a hormone patch and it has helped me so much. I am 50 and had started my hormone fluctuations before surgery, so my having my patch has helped me a ton.
Your body will regulate its self and adjust it self.
I think family members just dont get it, even though they do try.

I find that most people think that LAVH is a easy procedure to have done and think that we should be back to normal fast because they say that the recovery time is quicker. It may be quicker, but it is still major surgery and you still feel the pain and the emotional fun.

It does get better ----hang in there!!
