IVP what to expcect???

Has anyone had and IVP exactly how bad are they and exactly what to they do? I know they put dye in your veins and take x-rays, pictures. How are the side effects and other things.

Hospital called yesterday--had appointment open for today at 1:00 for blood work the 2:00 test. could anyone explain more Please

I did, however, have a CT scan where they used the same iodine IV contrast dye they inject during the IVP. It's a weird sensation... you get warm all over, starting at chest level and spreading out. When it hits your groin area you may feel like you've just wet yourself. You haven't. This would have freaked me out if the tech hadn't warned me about it beforehand. The iodine contrast dye doesn't hurt or burn like some others though. And I didn't have any aftereffects at all, got up and drove home afterwards.

I'm back home. Just like everything else the waiting and not knowing what to expect is still the hardest. Had blood work done. It turned out OK Had to wait over and hour for that. Put dye in vein on hand, took many immages.laying on my back, took 1 on stomach and 3 standing up and to side. Now wait until dr. appt on the 24 for results. and a cysto to be done.

I'm glad that everything went okay. It is very hard when you're not sure what to expect. You have to wait until the 24th for the results? Can you call sooner?

((((Colleen))))) I'm so happy all went well for you I'm sorry I wasn't around this morning, because I had an IVP at my pre-op and I remember I was more scared of that procedure than I was of the surgery.... and, as you say, it turned to be ok. The strangest part was when they stood me up when I was still on the x-ray table
