LAVH on Nov. 1-- RECOVERY?

I had LAVH Sep 21. Day of surgery I wasn't the best, but next day was up and around and doing fine as can be expected. went home early the following day and went to church that evening. some mild discomfort, but pain pills or Advil worked great. Had a hard time relaxing the first week, but second week was able to sleep and relax, of course I did over do it so sleeping was easier. If you can prepare some food ahead of time that would be helpful. My hubbie didn't take any extra time off from work once I came home. As far as the latex gloves allergy, I was asked numerous times if i was allergic to latex. I'm not so not sure what they would do i answered yes. Just be sure you tell someone every chance you get. the waiting is the worst part and for me being bored when recovering. We don't have cable and regular daytime tv is terrible. I did not bleed, but there can be slight bleeding with this type of surgery. The nurses in the hospital were great. Hope this helps.

LAVH on Nov. 1-- RECOVERY?

I was given the same diagnosis as you, however my endometriosis was under control. It was other that was of major concern. Anyway, I had a TVH on 9/6/00, stayed one night in the hospital, went home, alone, and did just fine. I had people come to visit, but I never needed anything done for me that required someone staying with me for days at the time. I had friends do any lifting I needed, like taking out the trash. I am not one who likes a lot of company or attention, so I was perfectly content being alone. I had no problem with the anesthesia, and never got my pain meds filled. The second night home I took an ibuprofen in the middle of the night and that was it. As for the bleeding, it was minor - just spotting for about 2 weeks, and now a discharge that I'll probably have until the internal stitches dissolve. I went back to work full-time 2 days short of 5 weeks, and worked 2 half days the week prior (I have a desk job and work on the computer and phone a lot). Anyway, I have recovered nicely I think, and my dr released me at 3 weeks to do anything I wanted to do except heavy lifting. Good luck and feel free to ask anymore questions.
