Here it is 11 days post op and.....
Here it is,11 days post op and I still feel freshly operated on! Its amazing how much I took for granted before surgery!!! I thought I ached before....boy was I in for a surprise!! I can hardly get dressed without feeling my energy drain away,I'm still wearing flannel PJ's most of the time.I have gone out of my house in public only twice...once to visit my mother for the afternoon and once to go to Wal Mart.It seemed like the Wal Mart was 10 times bigger than I know it is!! I am still very sore and am still taking pain meds..although not nearly as many!!!Coughing, sneezing and laughing are still excruciatingly painful...my throw pillow is my best friend!! I know I have a long way to go....but when am I going to feel more"normal"? I actually want to clean my house and take out the trash and walk the dogs and wrestle with my children and giggle without pain!!! I get to drive next week..maybe that will help. Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
You ARE freshly "operated on"! Total healing will take several months, but you'll be feeling much better in just a few weeks. The initial recuperation is usually 6-8 weeks.
Rest is crucial to your recovery, and recovery needs to be your focus for awhile. Get loads of rest with your feet UP to keep pressure off of countless stitches inside you.
Think of the big picture here: You will be restricted from some things for a few weeks, but you have the rest of your life to enjoy afterwards without all the problems that led you to a hyst! I am 4 months post-op now, and I only with I had done it sooner!
Try to be patient with your recovery, Jennifer...this is your ONE chance to heal properly! If it makes you feel any better, I had no idea of what a hyst recovery was really going to be like when I had mine!
My very best to you...
Linda

Jennifer - I agree with Linda...and like you said it's very early. The more you rest now the better you'll feel later..don't rush to start resuming "normal" activities. I had tah/bso 3/22..my first trip out of the house was to my 4 week post op appt...still had internal stitches. My dh drove me to walmart after the appt. and like you said...seemed A LOT BIGGER I went back to work 1/2 days at 7 weeks post and that totally wore me out...however, at 12 weeks post my energy level was getting back to "normal". Hang in there...each week gets better and better.
