internal stitches

How soon can internal stitches begin to dissolve? Had my total hyst on Nov. 29th. Today i feel sick at tummy and have explosive bowel movements with what looks like small black spots. Was wondering if this could be internal stitches being passed? I have also developed a yeast infection on my incision. I had uterine cancer which was confined to the uterus Praise God..All in all feeling pretty good considering..I am 61.

internal stitches

My doctor said to expect the stitches to dissolve 2-3 weeks out. I'm only 1 week out so I don't have personal experience, but that is what I was told. I have also read posts to that effect and seen that there are posts regarding discharge during the dissolution of the stitches.

internal stitches

Hi antfee,

This does not sound like internal stitches to me...they would not come out with a BM...unless you had some kind of repair work that I don't know about. They sometimes are passed through the vagina...just the end part with the knot, usually, from what I've read here. Please call your Dr. if it really bothers you...sounds to me like you might have had an upset tummy.

My very best to you...

Linda
