Anyone with an intraped nerve???

Hello ladies, i am 3 wks (tomarrow) post TAH. I was just readmitted into the hospital due to severe pain i was having. After meeting w/ a ton of docs and doing a MRI and CAT scan, they decided i had a intrapped nerve somewhere in my inscision. The pain was sooooo severe. They ended up doing a nerve block, injecting me with the biggest needle i have ever seen into the site of major pain.....it has indeed numbed the area, and i was releaed to go home. They have told me that if the block does not last long and that severe pain returns, i may need more surgery to open up the inscision and look for the nerve and release it. Has anyone delt with this???? Im desperate for info! I had a trapped nerve after my first csection but it was nothing compared to the pain i had been feeling! That one was eventually released after another abdomnial surgery for cysts. Can anyone help me?

Anyone with an intraped nerve???

Shannon,

I have seen this mentioned on hystersisters. I do not have this myself (that I know of). If you do a search by typing in "trapped nerve" in the search box in the upper right, you should find several old threads you can look through.

Good luck, and I hope the pain block works and you don't need more surgery.

Anyone with an intraped nerve???

I had entraped rectus nerve sheath with pains that sent me to the moon. I recieved a steroid/anesthetic shot. After one more day of intense pain it kicked in and felt so much better. I had a second two weeks later. It still acts up but more achy and sore than painful. There is still a small lump where the inflamed nerves are but it is much better. I hope yours will be as easy to fix.
Good luck and hope it gets better.

Anyone with an intraped nerve???

I was in serious pain from the injection the day after both times. The second day was almost pain free. I opted for the second one 2 weeks later 1 due to the fact it was flaring up from being back to work second, I knew I was going on an international flight and dealing with lots of traveling the next week. I was using full strength pain killers to get through it but it was worth it in the end. I hope it starts to work for you. If it is what I was dealing with you should have relief tomorrow. My surgeon said it could take up to three shots to tackle the problem. I made it with two.

Good luck and Hoping for some relief for you!
