Post-OP checkup

Hi there,

I am six weeks post-op (total abdominal hysterectomy) and had my follow-up checkup by my doctor last week. It was a really quick checkup and he did not even look at my scar nor did he do an internal.

I do not seem to have any real problems other than what I believe is normal healing.

Should I be worried?

What kind of hysterectomy did you have? I had an SAH and my doctor didn't do an internal because there is nothing in there to look at (except for the usual since I kept my cervix). He did check the scar because I had gone to the ER for a minor infection caused from me pulling on a stitch that was sticking out. He sent me on my way telling me he would see me in a year for a pap test.

My post-op checkup was really quick as well. He just removed my staples and then answered my questions. He didn't do an internal exam.

My post-op was only one week after my surgery and I haven't seen a doctor since.

I was kind of concerned after reading about everyone else's more extensive follow-ups, but I'm feeling really good, so I just figured that was all I needed.

She had a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy....

My doc didn't do an internal exam at 2 weeks but did at six weeks. All was well in my case. Do you have another follow-up scheduled? Seems like it might be reassuring to be checked out more thoroughly at this juncture.
