Unhappy - Full blown menopause and emotional wreck Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

I am having a really hard time. I'm now 7 weeks post op from the first surgery, TAH. I have been on Agestyn progesterone since the day I got home.

My ob/gyn gave me the vivelle dot to start, but, my PCP doesn't think I should start it yet. We want to make sure the endometriosis is died off first before I start that.

My DH moved out and left me 2 weeks after I got home from the hospital. It's been horrible on me. I've had to get up and do more than I should have been due to this.

My emotions are all over the place. I'm crying for 4 days straight now. I'm going to the dr tomorrow to see about getting on something to control my emotions that seem to be whacky. I can't help crying though, that's all I do all day long.

I miss my DH immensely. At this point, he appears to have moved on and doesn't want to even attempt to put our marriage back together.

So I know I have to think about moving on, but, that pain rips my stomach out at the thought of it.

I'm so hurt.

Has anyone else gone through this? What meds can a dr put me on to help me deal with my emotions, hot flashes, etc.

The hot flashes are all day and night. I wake up drenched in sweat from them. I'm falling apart emotionally.

Any ideas on meds?
Amy

Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

Amy, I am soooo sorry that this is happening to you. Your doctor will be your best source for information on medications. I can understand why you are crying so much right now. Not only has your body undergone physical shock and trauma with the surgery and hormones, but you have had an emotional upset at the same time. I feel so helpless as I sit here wanting to reach out to give you a great big hug, so I will send some cyberhugs. You are most definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Please come rant and rage with us any time you feel you need a release. Bless you.

Hey....
You are going to be great. Trust me...women are strong!!! My doctor put me on Estrogel after my TAH. I feel really good. No mood swings or flashes or anything. Ask your doctor about it. I hope things get better soon! BIG HUGS!!!!

Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

I am very sorry to hear about your recovery being so difficult. You might want to try asking for Effexor. It is an antideprsant, but my obgyn said if I needed help with hot flashes etc...it works and also helps with mood changes and depression. You might benefit from it for all of what you are going thru right now. Forgive me for saying this, but it may be a blessing your husband left. Any man that would treat his wife like that especially post op after major surgery, is a very inconciderate person. It is a blessing he is gone. Now not only did you rid yourself of possible health issues by having surgery, but you now have an opportunity to get a fresh start for yourself. When one door opens another one opens. Please see that i am not making light of your situation, I am deeply sorry, but I wish for you to see this from another perspective. Choose to look for the light..
May God Bless you on your journey. I hope you find the health and peace you seek.
hugs,

Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

Amy,
I am not sure but I would think that a lot of your emotional breakdowns are legitimate and not only hormones. I am terribly sorry that you have been through so much with this surgery. It was bad enough that you went threw a major life change with the TAH but having to deal with you DH's departure is terrible. I am thinking of you and will be praying for you. In the long run, you probably won't miss DH at all and find someone who can give you the love and caring that you need. God bless you and your recovery.

Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

I agree with Kbennj, the depression meds my doc put me on after my surgery was effexor xr and it worked great, the only downside I think you should be warned about is the withdrawal symptons. As long as you wean yourself off you shouldn't have any problem though. Keep your head up and realize that everything will get better and you'll be stronger because of it!!!!

Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

Bloody Hell! ooops sorry couldnt help that!
What a time your having ....Im so sorry for you.
I would suggest that having a really good talk to your doctor take the time to explain everything, physical and emotional pain too.... dont ever be embarresed about how you feel . If you hide it, how can the doc help?
Im certain that once you are on the correct meds you will feel soo much better.
Keep believing every day is a step nearer feeling well again and starting a new life.....be brave you are stronger than you think. If you ever need to talk we are all here for you
Good luck

Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

Thanks Ladies,

I've been so emotional it's crazy. I talked to my PCP and he put me on Pristiq and Zanax. He wants me to gain weight and gave me a pill, Megace, for that. But, I think I will gain weight eventually and don't want to start these pills. I got them filled, but, I'll think about it.

Today, I haven't cried at all. I know the meds aren't working "yet", but, they will.

I'm trying to stay positive and make the best out of the situation. It's not easy. Not working for so long, then DH left and financially isn't supporting me 1cent of the way. He left and took all the money too.

So, I've had to start working early to try to make money to pay my bills without his help. I am self employed so if I don't work, I don't get paid.

I'm trying to keep my mind busy, but, it's not easy. I got my hair done today and feel good. Just need to book a massage and will feel a lot better.

Wink - Full blown menopause and emotional wreck Re: Full blown menopause and emotional wreck

Hello Amy!
I am happy to see things are looking up a little for you.
I wish I could be there for you to lean on and vent to.
I can relate to the emotional upheaveal. I ended up in the psych ward a few days after my daVinci hysterectomy and BSO. I was there for 5 days and was glad for the help. I am wondering if you have any support from other people?
Friends, family, clergy? I would ask you to find people you can talk to and vent to. It will help you more than you can imagine. I can not be there for you in person but can and will be there for you in spirit and heart.
PLEASE try not to work to hard and ask for help when you need to. Take frequent breaks (since you are self-employed that shouldn't be a problem) and if you need to do any heavy lifting, try to get a neighbor or friend to help you out.
