Oz Has Spoken...home From The Castle

Last time I posted I was "off to see the wizard", couldn't sleep, etc. Well, had the surgery on 5/17. Had to wait until the last minute because surgery orders were wrong and hospital staff would not make me mentally compromised with drugs until it was cleared up. Had me down for a TAH and I had agreed with DD to keep cervix and ovaries if they were healthy. As things turned out, the staff was wonderful and from the moment the anesthetist said he was going to make me feel drunk until I woke up in recovery, I do not remember a thing -- not going into surgery, etc.

Had to take ovaries, but kept cervix. Was amazed that I felt no surgical menopause. Put a patch on me and so far that has worked great. So, I am home and resting as much as possible. Returned to computer first time today. I do feel so much better emotionally that it is strange. I thought I would feel depressed or sad, but I feel like myself again -- despite the pain from the abdominal incision. The hardest part is making myself rest.

I do have a whole new appreciation for people in health care. The nurses I had were just wonderful, from encouraging words at pre-op from other "sisters" to the ladies who came in and brushed my hair and just gave me a hug, encouraging me to get up and walk. All in all, put your faith in God and kept reaching out to others who can help you understand. I have learned so much, and I know that I am just taking the first baby steps down a new road in life. I'm sure I'll have many more questions along the way. Thanks to all of you for your prayers and good wishes.

Hugs for everyone....

Welcome home! So glad you are doing well and had such a positive hospital experience.
Now take it easy and rest, rest, and rest some more. Take care and God bless you!
