Incision Opening

Hi Sisters,

Has any of you experienced your incision opening after the staples were removed? My surgery was on the 1st. The staples removed on the 4th.

Want to also make sure it's not infected. Hugs

Sorry you're having trouble. I had a bikini line incision that had difficulty healing but a year later, it's a thin scar & perfectly healed, it just took a lot of time & effort in those early weeks.

If you're having trouble with your incision & dressings, can you ask your surgeon to consult a wound care nurse to help you? I found wound care nurses to be very skilled, they have nifty products that the average doctor's office might not even know about & can spend time teaching you how to take care of it at home. I know it's frustrating, hang in there.

I had my DaVinci complete hysterectomy on 2/24/10. I had my surgical staples removed on 3/10. A few days later, My center incision just above my belly button, came all the way open. I called my doctor the next morning and he told me to keep it clean with just slightly soapy water, dry completely and otherwise keep a gauze bandage on it so the wound could "breathe". It looks ugly for sure, but they are assuring me it will heal totally. Hugs to you.
