Is this really needed????

I have posted several times on this post and have found it very helpful. I am just so confused on what to do. I have severe dysplasia with glandular involvement with unclear margins. The dr. wants to do a hysterectomy but said the choice is up to me. He says it is for the best because it will be hard to get an accurate pap since the bad cells are so high up in my cervix. He told me today that i could have a pap in a few weeks and if it was ok then we could wait a few months. What should I do? I have 3 beautiful children the smallest is 6 months so more children aren't really an issue, but the finality of it all is scary. I think i would want another baby if this wasn't an issue. Sorry to go on and on but i have no where else to get such good advice!!! Any reply will be apprecitated

How scary it must be for you to have the diagnosis with unclear margins! If I were you, I wouldn't want to risk the cells growing so high up and moving into the uterus. Have you talked to a gyn oncologist and gotten another opinion?

I don't have many other suggestions, but I can offer s. Best wishes.

Personally, I was glad to get my surgery over with. You can always seek a second opinion. But if there is any remote possibility of cancer I wouldn't hesitate to have the surgery.

We can't tell you what is right for you, but having young children myself, I would have to say that I would opt for removal sooner than later. Why take such a risk. Good luck to you

What a tough decision to have to make. Every time I read a post from a sister doing chemo I am grateful I did not "wait to see". You have little ones who need their mom healthy and around to raise them. Good luck with whatever you do.

eclares,
It is so hard to decide what to do when a doctor says it is your decision to do it now or watch and wait. Personally I would want it taken care of right away. Get a second or even third opinion and have at least one of those at a gyn/onc. These doctors are specialists in the diagnsing and treatment on precancer and cancer conditions. you may want to check out and ask you questions in the Cancer Concerns
