Did D&C improve fibroid-related bleeding?

Just curious--has anyone experienced improvement in fibroid-related bleeding after D&C? (My period was right on schedule and just as heavy as always). If you did, when did you notice improvement and how long did it last?

My bleeding didn't improve after a D&C. I think I stopped for about 5 days, then it was continuous until my Dr. got me on a bcp that at least gave me periods that had a beginning and an end. That was last year. I've tried several different hormonal approaches, but none has really done the trick. What does your doctor think - is s/he recommending a hyst or more hormonal treatment?

Susan, I had several D&C's over the years, for fibroid-related bleeding. The D&C's didn't make any difference at all.

In addition to D&C's, my doctors also tried various hormonal treatments, which also didn't help with the bleeding.

As it turned out, I also had adenomyosis ("boggy uterus"), and the only known cure for adenomyosis is hysterectomy.

Good luck to you, and be persistent. If heavy bleeding is affecting your life, you deserve to find the answers you need.
