Hiya - Ok give me the low down!

I'm off to the 'castle' in about 10 hours, really wished i'd found this site a week ago - might have alleviated some fears and frantic internet research!
I think I am organised, have packed my bag and am ready to roll. Am slightly paranoid that it will be more painful than I am ready for - has any one had a tummy tuck? I had one of those and that was pretty painful but was do-able, I've never had a c-section so don't know - can anyone tell me what sort of pain I can expect? I am having this done because of crazy bleeding for months on end - have always had heavy periods since I was about 9 years old - always about 9 days in length and now as I get older I think I support the gold cards of the sanitary factorys!! Man I won't miss that expense!!
How many days will I be out of action?
I have three sons aged 18, 11 & 6, the 18 year old is home with broken hand so he is going to be my home help with the little ones and hubby will do all he can when he gets home from work.
Think thats all - look forward to any replies!

Don't know about the pain to expect because I am still on the waiting side but wanted to wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.

Hi!

to Hyster Sisters!

It might help you to spend some time browsing through the information and hints in these links: Pre-Op Page and Post-Op Page.

Take your pain medication as allowed and that should make it all very tolerable. I made sure to ask the nurse for my pain medications as often as they were allowed and the staff at the hospital was very good about making sure that my pain was under control.

How long you will have post-op restrictions on your activities will depend on the type of hysterectomy you have and how well you are healing. Initial healing generally is 6 - 8 weeks though it takes much longer for internal healing. Follow your doctor's orders and be careful not to overdo even if you are feeling well.

I'm sending all best wishes for your surgery and recovery! We'll be here for you after your surgery, too.
