One reason why a LAVH could be converted to an TAH
I remeber there was a thread recently where a sister asked about why her Dr warned her that her LAVH could be converted to a TAH... I couldn't find that thread again but wanted to share this piece of info I got from my Dr today at my pre-op appointment and hope that I explain it correctly...
I asked my Dr that very question... what would cause him to need to convert my LAVH to a TAH and he explained that it has to do with the ability to pull the uterus through the vagina.. he said that he would know pretty quickly based on how much the uterus "drops" when the anesthesia relaxes my muscles... if the uterus "drops" on it's own pretty easily then he should have no issues doing the LAVH and if it drops well enough it's possible that it could even be a TVH... but if it doesn't drop enough on it's own he'd know that he would need to make it an open procedure pretty quickly and that it really had little to do with your "size" for larger women like myself but with your uterus
this made sense to me when he explained it... I hope I was able to explain it well enough and perhaps pass on some info...
