mini period 7 weeks post op kept cervix amd ovaries

Hi everyone
Quick question... Does anyone get mini periods? How lomg do they last and how much bleeding? i had an lap hysterectomy. Kept my cervix and ovaries approx 7 weeks ago and have brown spotting and small cramping on my left side and lower back that started today.
Just curious about others experience.

I have had two periods. The first one lasted about 3 days and this past one lasted about 9 days and I had PMS for the first time. Seems not fair to not get the main advantage of hysterctomy! My doctor said she can do ablation to get rid of the periods but who wants more surgical intervention? Good luck and I hope you don't get the PMS along with the mini periods.

I agree and more procedures doesn't agree with me at all. This wasn't a piece of cake for me. I can handle monthly light spotting even a day of cramps but want no more . Fingers crossed. I go for my post op doctors appointment tomorrow . So I will see what he says. Thanks for ur response 😄

I have to chime in about the ablation. I had a NovaSure ablation done in June of 2010. Even when the top half of the uterus and or cervix is ablated, this does not stop the tissue underneath from shedding.

What happens is your period still comes monthly but gets trapped behind the scar tissue. This is EXTREMELY painful .. It happened to me. I would advise any woman from having one done.

Thanks gmac. I don't mind a mini period as long as its mini and not nearly what I had before. I certainly am not in favor of any more procedure or surgeries. I had a ufe and then hysterectomy. I want to move on from "female" problems and start having a life.
