Fibroid symptoms come & go?
A question for those with fibroids -
have you experienced symptoms that come & go?
After 3 months heavy bleeding, this month has lightened up. I had 1 day bad cramping, some early spotting but that was about it. Is this normal? Am I just lucky this month? Will my symptoms most likely return?
TIA,
k2mills
(TAH scheduled for Jan)

Fibroid symptoms come & go?
I have had variations on the bleeding theme for years. Everything from having to change super tampons every ten minutes (only one period, about 2 or 3 years ago) to a fairly normal 5 day period (September 2005). Usually I have a period for 7 days, with the first 2 days being the heaviest (i.e. changing every 1.5 hours or so). Sometimes I even stop after about day five, and then start up again with a vengance on day seven for a day or two more. My August 2005 period wa 2.5 weeks long, and a week after that, I bled/spotted for about 2 or 3 more days. I also started to feel crampy all the time, and felt like I was carrying a brick in my tummy, so I decided I wanted to be done with this. I was diagnosed with fibroids in 1993.
I went to a radiologist for the UAE proceedure. I had an MRI, which showed one submucosal fibroid, so many intramural fibroids that they have started to grow together and they're really able to count them, 5 fibroids on the outside of my uterus, some of them pendunculated (sp?), so I wasn't really a candidate for UAE, unless I had the pendunculated ones removed laproscopically. Who wants to go through 2 recoveries?? (UAE and laproscopy).
I'm 43, and have never had children, which makes me a little sad, since I have finally found a wonderful man who I would like to have a child with. But I've had several opinions, and they all concur that it would be highly unlikely (like 0 to -1% chance) that I could carry a baby to term. We can always adopt!

Fibroid symptoms come & go?
K2mills, I'm Having Surgery The Day Before You. And Yes I Get The Same As You Have Said. But Thats Only Happend To Me A Few Times In The 5yrs I Have Known About My Tumors. As For Me, My Symptoms Have Always Come Back. I'm A Very Heavy Bleeder. And Now, I'm Getting Pain And Presure All The Time. I Always Have To Pee. So Maybe My Tumors Are Pressing On My Bladder Now.

Fibroid symptoms come & go?
Yes, the symptoms can come and go. I would have miserable periods, heavy with cramping and migraines, and then an occasional normal period, but the problems always returned. Then I began to get UTIs that just wouldn't go away. As it turned out the fibroid had grown so large that my bladder and ureters were under lots of pressure. It's better not to let things get to that point. I had my surgery 10 days ago (TAH) and I'm already feeling better than I have in a long time. Best wishes to you.

Fibroid symptoms come & go?
I've had symptoms seem like they come and go myself.. Sometimes my period will be the every 28 days like it's suppost to be and bleed for about 10 days *normal for me, lol*.. That may be like that for oh I dunno, a month to three months.. After that I'll bleed 2-3 weeks, stop a week or less, sometimes up to 2 weeks if I'm lucky, then bleed another week to two weeks.. Repeats itself over and over.. Now the last period I had was "normal" and haven't started back, but I will before my surgery comes around the 15th unless it decides to be nice and by chance be late, lol.. I hope they don't postpone surgery cause of that.. I honestly thought I was crazy in thinking something was wrong since it would take it's "normal spells" then it would be back for days on end.. So, I know what ya mean about the symptoms coming and going..

Fibroid symptoms come & go?
Thank you all - you know I was just looking for an escape hatch . . .
I do realize the surgery is the best option in my case. They even had to stop the SHG early because I was in so much pain. I'm just nervous, and you wonder if it is really necessary when you feel "OK". Guess I just need to remember all the bad times.
Thanks for the support,
K2mills
