excited/ but scared

Yeah, I just finished mine, and am disappointed to know that I will have to take pads with me to the hospital. Sad!

I'm sure your surgery will go well, and you'll feel a whole lot better soon!
How do you make it without HRT and no ovaries? I thought I would truly have no choice????

Sorry, I was offline for awhile and didn't get your message right away!

I think the HRT depends a lot on your age, and how close you were to menopause when you have your surgery. I was 49 and in peri-menopause when I had my hyst, so my doctor suggested that I try it without HRT. So far I'm making it work, the hot flashes and night sweats are no fun, and I'm not sleeping very well, and the emotional stuff is the pitts, but other than that () I'm doing ok!

You are about 10 years or so away from menopause, so it would make much more sense for you to take HRT with no ovaries. Me, on the other hand, I'm ancient! And since I was so close to menopause already, it wasn't much of a stretch to go no HRT.

I hope your surgery goes well!

I was excited and scared too. My biggest worry (other than that ol' dyin' on the table thing) was to go through all of the pain and recovery and then find out the surgery didn't provide any relief!

Fortunately, the surgery provided a lot of relief and was a good thing to do. Also, the pain was not that bad. I expected agony and basically got lots of discomfort.

I channeled all my pre-op nervous energy into cooking for my post-op time. Not that I got carried away or anything, but I didn't have to cook for a good 5 weeks after surgery.

Good luck, hang in there and let us all know how you made out.
