Racing thoughts, sleepless nights

My Davinci is scheduled for March 26th and My nerves are already kicking in. I find myself tossing and turning at night playing all the things that could happen or go wrong. As im writing this I am in pain and have terrible nausea so I know its the right decision. But I have panic/ Anxiety disorder so I question "what if" about everything. There is about 1 week out of a month where I actually feel good so my brain is saying "what if" the surgery makes the one good week go away? Or I had a D and C with fibroid removal about 5 years ago and I remember awakening and pleading that I could not breath it was so scary (probably mostly anxiety) but "what if" it happens again. And then the biggie "what if " I die.

Thanks for listening maybe some can relate?

Re: Racing thoughts, sleepless nights

Wow! Just reading your post...I had to double check and make sure it wasn't mine!! My DaVinci is scheduled for the 18th and I'm going through the same thing. I can't sleep, I can't concentrate at work, I'm nauseated and not eating (mostly due to the cantelope size of my cyst).

I had my pre-op Thursday and my doctor said that this level of anxiety can be treated with Xanax. She prescibed it and told my husband to have me take 1/2 tab when I get in bed cause it works so fast. NO WAY...I waited 2 hours for it to kick in and it never really helped. Last night we tried a full tab and still no luck. My mind is racing and I keep having images of the surgery flash in my mind.

When my husban and I went to have my blood work done, they couldn't tap a vein! They tried both arms multiple times, then brought a doctor in. Now they say I need to go to the hospital and have an anesthesioligist draw it. This has only increased my anxiety.

I know this surgery will improve my quality of life. Part of me wants it to be here and over with...the other part of me feels like times going by to fast and I'm NOT ready.

All I can say is hang in there...you are not alone. Find support and comfort from the amazing ladies on this site. We are all here for you!

We have the same date yay! I will be have lavh but most likely turn into abdominal by the end. I was also having the same thoughts last night and then the horrible pain started back up and looked at my calendar and realized that I've been bleeding for the past 5 weeks and 6 days non stop and I knew then exactly why I'm going through this. I have endo, cancer cells and multiple cysts on my ovaries. I won't know about keeping my ovaries until she gets in there to see what's all going on. Good luck for your surgery day and happy recovery!
