TLH / davinci / 6/01/12

Hi all!
I'm new here. I had a TLH using the davinci robotic system on 6/01/12. I was able to keep my ovaries although my doc removed 2 cysts from the right ovary during the procedure. I have suffered from excessive bleeding and endometriosis for the last 5 years with periods lasting 2 to 3 weeks per month. At one point I bled and spotted almost continuously for six months. I've had d&c's, tried all the meds, and was close to having to receive blood transfusions for low h&h counts. When I was given the choice of ablation or TLH, I chose the latter. I am 32 years old and could not face dealing with these problems for so many more years to come. I am so happy with my decision and am feeling wonderful after the procedure. I guess I'm looking for a little recovery advice from those who have been there. I look forward to hearing from many of you. Thanks for reading

Re: TLH / davinci / 6/01/12

Hi! Sounds like you have a great attitude about your situation. I wish you luck in your recovery. Rest, relax, and do what feels right. Also, laugh every day - humor has been a blessing for me over the last week (along with marathons of the real housewives).

Re: TLH / davinci / 6/01/12

I had mine on may 23rd but lost both my ovaries. I'm 29. I'm off all pain meds even Motrin. I notice discomfort at times looking stuff but not too bad. My biggest issue is that I'm EXHAUSTED!!! I feel like I could sleep all day! Yet I'm not sleeping well at all.
Overall I'd say my recovery has been pretty easy. The first week was the hardest. Week 2 has been easier for sure.
Good luck! I'm glad your at peace with your decision. That's great! I was 100% sure when I went into OR but have had second thoughts since. Too late now tho.

Re: TLH / davinci / 6/01/12

Thanks ladies! I must admit that I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I'm never going to have menstrual bleeding ever again...I can't even imagine what my life is going to be like !!

Re: TLH / davinci / 6/01/12

I also had DaVinci on June 1st. kept both my ovaries, but Dr also removed some cysts that were on them as well. I am feeling really really good. I have never had any pain since I woke up from surgery, no gas pains, and no nausea. I have already had 3 totally painless Bm's as well. I am still taking the Naproxen for the swelling. I am up walking several times a day, I have already done a 3 hr ride in the truck, I am just being really careful not to lift anything!! I dont care how light, I am not doing any bending and no lifting. I have not had one drop of bleeding since I woke up from surgery either. I am so very well pleased with the way things are going.
