Re: itching like crazy

Yes!!!!! Are you still taking narcotics? Percoset alwaysales me itch. My dr said Benadryl is ok. I found cathphil soap and lotion (not near incisions) helped as well.

Re: itching like crazy

The day of the surgery I was extremely itchy must have been one of the drugs they gave me. However since then I've noticed my back, face and legs get really itchy. I thought it was just me. I normally don't ever use my back scratcher but I use it several times a day now. I'm down to taking only ibuprofen when I start getting sore.

Re: itching like crazy

Yes! For me it was all over my torso - I think a reaction to the iodine and whatever else they used to wipe me down during surgery. At day 9 now and it's finally starting to subside. (although still have a bit of a rash.)

Re: itching like crazy

Possibly a yeast infection? Could just be you're healing; often, healing tissue tends to itch. Think about the last time you cut yourself...about the time your scab came off, you were itching. Also, with the anesthesia causing all of your mucus membranes to dry out (remember your dry mouth from hell?!) Your vagina may be totally dry. Might want to ask dr for some Estrace or Premarine cream to help restore moisture to your vagina. One last thought. You mentioned a leaky bladder. Are you just wiping with tp, or cleaning with a wash cloth or baby wipe? If you're just using tp, there may be some left over urine sticking to your nether regions, which could also cause itching. Might want to try cleaning with a wet cloth of some sort every time you visit the bathroom. Good luck. Try not to scratch too much, you don't want to create an opening for infection to settle into.
