Needing support
Hi everyone.
Let's see, I started this waiting game in November, when the doctor told me that I needed to finally have my hysterectomy. Had to schedule the surgery 3 months later (February 18 was projected date) because of insurance purposes. (Pre-existing conditions, plus couldn't have any treatment whatsoever for 3 months prior to surgery, or it wouldn't be covered.) So, off I go on the waiting thing, using this site to help me get informed and as much prepared as I could for the upcoming castle visit.
I have no family, and the only person that can help me with my daughter while in the castle, and until I could drive is a 68 year old dear friend of mine. Well, turns out she had to go to the hospital and they found out she has a staff infection...will be in the hospital for 6 weeks on antiobiotics and having to do rehab. Which means she would be getting out of the hospital about the time I would be going in. The only friends I have here work, so I couldn't depend on them to help.
I had to call my doctor today to postpone my surgery. I can't have it now until May 10th. I will have to take one more provera shot (which helps with the bleeding, but not the pain) and have to wait 3 months after that before they can do the surgery because of my stupid insurance. I guess I'm just a little discouraged and needed to vent. I am so tired of living with this pain, and was really getting myself mentally prepared for this. Y'all just say a little prayer for me if you would. I need a tissue.

LU LU~
I am so sorry to hear what all you are going through. I know that you are discouraged but it will all work out. I do not live far from you I am in Joplin Missouri if I was a little closer would be more then happy to help.
Maybe if you talked to some of your friends at work they may have some ideas for you. Hang in their and you will be in my prayers.
Wish I was closer to you!!

Lulu,
I don't have much advice to offer, but I read your story and I feel for you. I am supposed to be on your original schedule - waiting three months from November. I haven't seen my doc since then and don't have a date yet. Every time I see more girls heading off to become princesses, I get a little jealous and impatient. But, I keep telling myself that I will have their experiences to add to the wealth of knowledge here when I go in. You will have mine!

LuLu,
I'm so sorry everything is gone haywire for the moment. Would there be a visting nurse program that would be able to help you out? Maybe members of church? Try to get as much done before hand so that things will not be stressing you out during recovery. I will be thinking of you. Maybe if word got out there is a need for help within your community, people would be more than happy to offer their support. LuLu, these are just ideas and thoughts. I sure hope you can get some help while you are recovering. HUGS and best wishes to you....

LuLu,
I'm so sorry! I had to postpone mine two weeks (should have been becoming a Princess today), and it's driving me crazy. I can only imagine how you feel.
Try to remember as my Dad says, "God's delays are not without design". There may be some good reason for you to wait.
How old is your daughter? Do you have any friends with children her age that may be able to offer advice?
Wishing you the best,
Jeannie

Thank you ladies for your well wishes and good thoughts. I have tried every avenue that I can think of, and there is just no other way besides postponing. My daughter (she's 12) and I are fairly new to Arkansas, and don't have many friends here yet. The ones that we do have, work and have their own families and I just don't feel comfortable asking someone who doesn't know us too well to keep my daughter for 3 straight days and nights. I don't want to impose. So although I desperately need this surgery, I guess that God is testing my patience and seeing if I can wait a little longer. At this point I have no choice. I've lived with the pain this long, I guess I can live with it another 3 months. Thank you again everyone....and please just keep me in your prayers.

Hi Lulu -
I'm sorry you have to postpone, but I would probably do the same thing. If you haven't been there very long, you don't know anyone well enough to trust with your DD for three days/nights. I think Derby had a good idea though - find a church that you like and make some friends there. That way, three months from now, you'd have some folks around who would love to help you when the time came. A lot of churches have a newcomers program to help you get settled in a community.
I hadn't attended services regularly since I was a kid, but have found a church in my new town that has been great - I feel a lot better - not so worried about the surgery. They really like the opportunity to help someone - it's a win-win situation!

Hi ladies.
Just wanted to update you all. I like the ideas about finding a good church. I will definitely think about doing that....not only for help, but for spiritual support as well.
Today would have been my last day at work for 6 weeks had I originally kept my surgery date. All of you ladies who are scheduled in the next few days, please know that I am thinking about you, and wishing I could get mine over with as you all are. I took my last depo provera shot last Monday (hopefully). Now it's just more waiting. And preparing.
Thanks to all for the warm wishes and great ideas. Let's keep our fingers crossed that these 3 months go by quickly and surgery will come and go smoothly. Take care.
