Re: going crazy / angry / frustrated / upset
I had already told this story here- when some one asked about explaining the surgery to their 17 yr old daughter- about my Mom having a hemmorrhoidectomy when I was 17My Mom insisted on coming home too soon and I'll never forget how helpless I felt w/ her in pain and having a terrible time w/ all aspects of that surgery. She really never did have complete recovery and suffered the ill effects of anal stenosis/painful bm and constipation her entire life. I could have continued to take care of the younger sibs, my Dad and grandmother were there too but my hard-headed Mom had to be home AND SHE WAS AN R.N. HERSELF. She wanted one nurse out of her five daughters and none of us chose that career. I'm thinking that was probably because she was the WORST PATIENT ever and we wanted none of that!!! SOOOO you have to take care of yourself and make sure you have time to recover COMPLETELY so you may enjoy your children without worrying about setbacks from doing too much, vacuuming and picking up too much weight before you are healed. Not to "scare" you but to make you understand you have only one opportunity to heal!!!!

Re: going crazy / angry / frustrated / upset
I am so there with you Tinkle. I have been dealing with a lot of complications and believe me I have had the whole kit and kaboodle. I have been so frustrated at lack of ability for the docs to pinpoint my problem. I keep dealing with the problems and every time it is a whole range of emotions from being frustrated, angry, upset and crazy. I thought I was going to lose it when the physician assistant implied that my pain wasn't physical and that I was addicted to pain meds instead of addressing my pain. I think this is the one place where you can voice all of these feelings. I feel like I have been on a rollercoaster and all I want is to get off, resume my life and feel better. So yes I do understand because I am there and have been going through this whole gamut from about one month post surgery. I don't know how I was prior because the words I would have had would be "24/7 pain, agonizing stabbing pain where I can't function at all". Now I can function(somewhat)and am not in pain 24/7 but still having it.

Re: going crazy / angry / frustrated / upset
tinkle - what you are describing sounds like a rush course of menopause. do not know if you are or are not in it but you described pretty much what i went thru when i went thru menopause. did it in my early 40's so now at 56 all i have had to deal with is the surgery "side effects" i was lucky for most of my menopause symptoms i had a really caring physician who understood and explained and even laughed - cause i did not realize that was what was happening. but i also know some doc's just do not have that gene in them. she took in a partner and every time i went in i got a lecture on needing to lose weight. now i do not think anyone who is overweight does not know it and it really was not the cause of the rash on my arms so could we stick to that.
sorry - back to topic - like i said - i did not have to combine the menopause type symptoms with the surgery effect but from what i have read on this site, sometimes even if you get to keep your ovaries there is a period of "shock" where your body reacts oddly. my advice is discuss it with your doc and if he/she doesn't help you deal with it give thought to finding one who will

Re: going crazy / angry / frustrated / upset
Oh thank you for sharing.
I am off my pain meds and . . . Sort of functioning. I can get my kids too and from places but that's about it and only if I tolerate the pain and skip my pain meds. I know my kids can do for them selves but Why aren't they. They can't even put the towels in the closet. If I insist the toss them in and close the door real fast! Ha ha ha. Well not quite that bad. They have all decided it is easier to live out of the laundry baskets. You can't walk through the family room anymore. It makes me nuts. I have a hard enough time with all 28 stairs. I avoid half of them most of the time.
The Legos underneith it all is killer!
I can't bend over and pick things up. Most days my eleven year old has to tie my shoes. I can't wear slipon ones as I reqire othotics, another side effect from meds. .
And there is Never any toilet paper in the bathroom no matter how many times I go to the trouble to stock up myself!
Shwooo! That fells better.
((((Deep cleansing breath))

Took a ride on the emotional rollercoaster. My doctor is wonderful, I am able to talk to him about anything.
