hospital stay

I just got a letter from my insurance saying they approved my TAH/BSO but it says it is for 1 day. My dr. said minimum 2 nights for tah. So does this mean I would have to pay for anything longer than 1 day?

I don't know the answer to that. I received the same letter from my insurance for my TAH. My doctor told me probably a 4 day stay. I called the insurance company and they said to check with the doctor to see what he requested. He may have only requested 1 day or the insurance may only have approved one day. I have my pre-op appt Monday, so I am adding that to my list of questions. My surgery is scheduled for Aug 3rd. I wish you luck in getting it resolved. I am sure the insurance company would approve more days if they are needed. Best of luck with your surgery and recovery.

Usually if its medically required by the doc I think most insurances pay even if its beyond the pre approved amount. Mine did.

i think, usually, if a doc says you need to stay longer, the insurance will cover it. ...hope yours does....
